Checker Shadow Illusion

This is an optical illusion by Edward H. Adelson who is a professor of Vision Science at MIT. The above picture shows that the squares marked A and B are of the same gray shade. Don’t believe what your eyes are telling u?

This does actually work.. I pasted this to paint and then i moved square a down by square b and they match perfectly…

U sure the A in image one is the same Colour as the A in Image 2 cos i don’t think so…. :S

The light is the variant in the two pictures.

It just a test of our optical dynamic range, we can´t difference between light changes in gray…

The color may be same but when the shadow falls on the B its color differs from that of A.

if you take the pic into photoshop and use the color grabber tool….
it clearly shows that the squares are different shades of gray
