@ goth-lolipop= www.gloomth.com really is a good way to get cheaper gothic lolita style clothes. blasphemina's closet and ergi are a good option as well as candy violet is you want an easier way to have things shipped to you.

@ blythe=you should really check out gloomth now. they have more options since 2007. and if you still think they arent good enough for your "idea" of what lolita can and can't be then open your mind a little.

i have to get something off my chest here. i love goth loli....i really do love it. my style is more classic-gothic-casual with a hint of country, sweet, and princess here and there. but in all honesty....i am not a fan of most j-rock but a few exceptions. my musical preference is bjork, otep, kerli, birthday massacre, and shiny toy guns, things like that. in case no one else has noticed, gothic lolita is changing in a lot of places. lolis are getting tired of the repetitive AP prints and jap. brands that seem to not really be changing. in other words they are making their own brands that change the mold and evolve while still keeping the innocent spirit.

the more gothic lolita reaches more westerners, the more it changes. its morphing along with victorian gothic and soon i think both sides will recognize each other in peace. im tired of being hassled on live journal because of these opinions as well. if you think loligoth needs to stay the exact same and you belittle other girls for trying other styles with it then you are as close minded as the people who make fun of you for your style. so hmph

Well, this style is really demanding on price, yes. But I discovered you find a cheap dress on ebay that has many pictures and good quality it goes sky high REALLY fast.
I find Visual Kei to be less demanding. XD
Though, if you find any Gothic Lolita or Sweet Lolita for that matter, for a good price, please let me know!

Milanoo.com for cheap gothic loli' clothes. Shot in the dark as to whether your items will be made properly, but unless you're willing to spend $200 on a dress, there is your best bet.
Also, @Nicole, Gothic Lolita and Goth have nothing to do with each other. They interchange some trends, and some staple looks, but one is from Japan, where death is accepted, revered, and explored thoroughly with the general mentality of the culture.
Western Goth is usually for shock value. Been there, done that, got the crappy band t-shirts.

@Faith - You're a gurololi'! (: I've always wanted to speak to one. (Guro means dead, which explains the gore, etc)

I love lolita style, cosplay, etc. General Japanophile sitting right here. Lolita is about being virginal. Sex does NOT touch the fashion. In fact, you could almost say that it's so sexless, that actually, it ends up being slightly...how to put this...prickteasey?

@Everyone!

mookychick.co.uk has a LOT of different explanations to lolitas, visual kei, and harajuku styles and subcultures. This article looks like it was written my a novice as a filler.
Does anyone here read FRUiTS?

Gosurori is a beautiful fashion as well as the other Lolita and Kodona fashion. "Boy Lolita" is known as Ouji or Kodona. Just like Loli, they have many branches. It is the 'prince' style and child aristocrat. Dandy and Aristocrat are slightly more mature fashions for boys(also worn by many girls). Either long and straight skirts, knickerbockers, or just pants; either can be incorperated for these more masculine and more mature counterparts to Lolita fashion.

Black clothes also don't make goth. You don't need b/w to be goth, nut only the subtle dark and mysterious air of elegance. Dark reds, blues, violets and greens are used in Gosurori just as black and white are. Or perhaps a black dress with pink or yellow tier. The common interpretation of goth is usually a dark sensuality filled with elegace. Elegance does not equal 100% adult. Mature, partly yes, but you don't have to be a Queen of Decadence or Prince of Nightmares to be goth. Child-like figures can be called goth, too.

French maid meets Alice? That's not exactly what Lolita is at all. French maid is potrayed stereotypically as 'sexy' and very revealing when Lolita has strict modesty guidelines for skirt length, socks, bloomers, and other things. The only acceptions would be Ero Lolira which still is modest nut holds a sensuality to it, and Cyber Lolita which is branched from Cyber goth though not very popular at all since full out Cybergoth is preferred. And honestly, most people do t like to consider them Lolita. I do, however, as they are not whitish revealing but more beauty in fetishism and latex or the Victorian sensuality. I suppose think vintage pin ups; they have corsets and short skirts or no skirt at all(just bloomers) with blouses and/or cages(that hold skirt shape).

You don't have to be Asian to be Lolita, either. I am from America and I still collect different styles of Loli including Gosu, Panku, Shiro, Kuro, Sax etc. (my goth however is only a cheap cosplay I'm sad to say T.T) But you just need a style that fits you. If you like cute and frilly, try Sweet Lolita. Want more sophistication? Try Classic Loli, Hime Loli or Gothic Aristocrat fashion. Wa and Qi Lolita are also out there for those who love the Lolita shape but also love Qipao and kimono fashion of China and Japan. If you're a fan of Decora or even Ganguro there's always Deco Lolita, too. Just make sure you actually look good in your style and not just wear it because you like the outfit. You may become Ita Lolita, which is thoroughly made fun of and frowned upon. ('Ita' means 'ow/ouch' in Japanese)

Lolita did NOT originate in Japan. That is a common mistake people tend to think. Yes, it is mass marketed in Japan but it had always been around in the Rococo, Edwardian, and Victorian eras of the Western world. It was called 'Lolita' because of a book with the title in which the main character shared the same name. The girl Lolita always wore this basic shape of Lolita dress. It is also where 'Lolicon' got it's name. Lolita complex was called such due to the book because there was a older man who was obsessed with the very young girl, Lolita, and reffered to her as a nymphet.
Also; Mana-sama us not the only Lolita designer/wearer. There is Kaya ex Schwarz Stein, MoonKana(sort of), Nana Kitade(sort of) Kanon Wakeshima and so many more.

Also; my 'definitions' aren't as if they're 100%. Just one of hundreds of examples. Simple guidelines to help interperate but that does not mean you should think of it applying to everyone/thing. Also; if you consider Ero and Cyber as Lolita you need to get a lot of experience before pulling it off because they're hard to do without looking too Rave or too slutty. I wouldn't dare do them myself; I'd fear I'd be horrible at it since I don't 100% know what I'd be doing.

Last note I promise; I'm sorry I rant about other styles. I know this is about goth loli, not others. And excuse amy spelling mistakes; it's currently 3 imthen morning si my brain is sleeping.

I just want to say.......
Why would you look up Lolita fashion if you dont like it?
And why is clothing gay?
To all those people that call inatimate objects gay i would like to point out that 'gay' refers to a sexuality....and clothing cannot be homosexual, just to put a bit of knowledge into your empty skulls.
There is nothing skimpy about true lolita, infact its meant to be very lady like and a person's knees aren't meant to show generally....sooooo......how is that slutty?

Lolita is just another culture, believe it or not those hideous sacks over tights come into some kind of culture im sure. So people really shouldn't be insulting it, its a beautiful thing when done right.

Plus you dont have to be asian to dress lolita, though asian does count as indian as well, though im sure most people dont mean that heh.

My skin is rather dark but that doesnt mean i wont try Lolita out, its what im intrested in so im going to do it. Though it seems to be rather expensive hehehe ^^

Everyone should just play nicely and not refer to bombing, thats just ridiculous and honestly....your only speaking so rudely because your hiding behind a computer screen, pathetic.

And to say that gothic is 'mature' but have a little tantrum and insult an entire race to prove it is just tacky, gothic fashion is beautiful but you should appreciate others style as well. *humph*

That is all

I actually like this style because it is girly and you can live out different roles with pretty much, the same 'lolita' style. Because there are so many different sub categories like hime-lolita and gothic-lolita, you can find whatever suits your fancy whether it be frills and lace or dark, elegant clothing.

Even the accessories are old fashioned and the makeup can be very tamed with pinks, naturals and on certain days, you can use darker colors like blacks and reds to draw a little more attention to yourself so you're not only a stick wearing a dress. The hair alone can be made into so many different styles and even though it is true that this style is mass marketed because people find it to be cool or 'in' at the moment, it is still something that makes you go "Wow." when you see it. Even if that "Wow." is meant to sound like 'WTF ARE YOU WEARING!!!!????'

I think it's cool that people can dress that way. i was reading some of the comments at the top and a person said "why can't the just dress in normal clothes?" well most people don't feel that "Normal" clothes express how they feel or who they are like this style does. and just cause you don't like the style doesn't mean you bash it. get a life and stop hating on people who are comfortable enough in their own skin to show it. i think subconsciously your jealous, because you can't express yourself the way they do. i would love to do this style or any of the other Lolita styles, but i just dont have the money right now. D: soon though, very soon! :)

Umm...I am american, as Nicole is, however, I don't think atomic bomb statements (i don't really consider that a joke due to its lack of tact and utter ignorance) are tasteful, nor are they called for. I really kinda hope people don't think ALL americans are closed-minded jerks. just...quite a few of them. I live in a small mid-western town, and I somehow ended up being extremely cultured compared to my peers. I love all sorts of fashion from cybergoth to lolita to punk, and sadly, I find it very suppressing to live here. I cannot move to a larger city yet because I am only 17, but I think it's awesome that other countries thrive on the inventiveness of their youth, instead of trying to squash it. So, basically, I'm trying to be a one girl revolution in my town. And yes, I'm kinda bashing my own country, but hey, its getting ridiculous here. =(

Actually for all those in America wishing to dress more Lolita (In general, anyway.) like. Shops like Dots and Claire's are pretty good alternatives.

I would dress more Lolita, but I've come to realize that frills+my field muscles just doesn't look right.

I really like this style BECAUSE it's unique. (Well, not so much in Japan, really...) But it's different from what most people wear, at least in my country. If I had enough money and the right body frame to pull this off, I'd totally try it out. Sure, people'd look at me like I was nuts, but what's new? I actually like the Gothic Lolita moreso than regular Lolita, if only because it's darker, with less innocence attached to it. I really do, however, love the idea of them being so doll-like and sweet. They aim to be polite and child-like and I LOVE that because there are so many rude people in the world these days (just look at the posts on here!)

The term Gothic was actually coined from the Germanic tribe, "The Goths." They were uncivilized and barbaric and therefore, gothic was regarded as such. However, later on it became more of a symbol for anything macabre and dark, almost a sad kind of romantic themed term. I regard Gothic as anything intricately detailed and dark. Sad romance is what I think.

I lovelovelove the intricate designs on these outfits!! They are just stunning. AND they are just too darn cute on those little Azns!!! <3333

Hello I hope I can be of service to you,
there are two places that I know of that sell some cheap gothic lolita clothes and accessories. Cosmates has some affordable lolita clothes and some nice jewelry. Also The White Peacock sells some good lolita clothing as well, the only problem being is there are not many items compared to Cosmates.

If any of you like Kawaii, harajuku, lolita fashion I run a small online site full of cute cell phone charms, kozies, keychains and other cute items as well!
This site is new and is still being worked on~ be sure to check in once in a while if you like or contact me through the site.
http://www.wix.com/Kittychan/Candy-Apple

Also people do have the right to state their opinions, yes, but there is also thinking before posting.
Simply if you have anything good to say, why say it at all? You know that the person who posted this likes the lolita fashion and wanted to show you their photos, why respond rude?
