Amusing, but the accuracy of these “facts” is very questionable. For example, #25: Depending on who you ask, the original lion’s name was either “Slats” (his trainer’s name was Volney) or “Cairbre”. The latter story places the lion’s birth in Dublin Zoo, Ireland.
In all, there have been at least five lions who have been the MGM lion. Any MGM lion is referred to (unimaginatively enough) as “Leo”.

The Colgate note is only PARTLY accurate. “Hang yourself” would be “Cuelgate” or using the infinitive as imperative (sometimes done in Spanish), “Colgarte.” “Colgate” is an unfortunate amalgam of the two possible forms for giving such an order, but does NOT mean what you indicate it means. Look-up “subnormal” in a web-translator.

About the whole “colgate” thing:
It CAN mean “hang yourself” in the imperative (command) form in countries like Argentina and Uruguay where the stress of the verb is on the “a” and therefore the “o” does not dipthong to “ue”.
It would NOT mean “hang it” because there is no “it” indicated.

Okay, seeing as everyone is being so TEMPERAMENTAL with each other over some boring facts I will provide some for you all to argue over instead.

I think that its better to know which facts are true, and which aren’t, so thank you all for exploring the ‘facts’ further. However, I think that it is a waste of time to sit around and argue about this, as they were probably copy and pasted from some other ‘fact’ website. Most online ‘facts’ turn out to be bogus anyway, mainly because anyone can post them online. Also, cool as it would be to have a site full of true facts for us to sit and read, we’d probably get bored because of their credibility. I mean, this list has made me question, laugh and think, and I’m only 14yrs old.

It is proven false that human hair and nails do not growth after death, even if submerged in water like the repy above stated. no, this is false. it is due to the contracrtion of the fragile skin around facial areas which gives the illusion that hair is growing it is actually the root hairs being exposed and the nail i believe also work on the same principle

Google is not the name for a number with a million zeroes. You are confusing this with a Googol, which is 10 raised to the power of 100, which is a one followed by a hundred zeroes. Incidentall a question along these lines was the million pound question on UK TV’s “who wants to be a millionaire” show

I’m not going to complian about the validity of these facts because I’m sure that the compiler complied these ‘facts’ slightly toungue-in-cheek. I mean, I’m sure he/she didn’t believe that all of these facts were 100% accurate but rather posted them because they are interesting. I was certainly interested whether they’re true or not. I’m sure most of them are true and the ones that aren’t, well at least they were still interesting, and every fact list isn’t 100% right.
However, I must quetsion the point of #19 – Everytime you sneeze, brain cells die.
It’s my understanding that many of our brain cells die every minute to be replaced by new ones whether we sneeze or not.

The one about the statues of dead people is not true at all. No stance means anything; and for your blood to squirt 30ft, you’d need to be an olympic athlete (for that strong a heart) who’s just finished a 400m race.

Actually, that Colgate fact is correct. I am colombian and the word colgate can be used in certain regions that use the personal pronoun “vos” (it is also used in Argentina). That personal pronoun is not that well-known because it could be qualified as slang.

german shepherds only bite more people than any other dog because they are the most trust worthy to be used as a police dog. My family and i have a german shepherd and they are fantastic family dogs.

Most of you people are dumbasses who are of the belief that you’re smart, you’re not. I have read most of these in many different books. Those books wouldn’t all be published if these are wrong. Given, there are one or two myths but, most of them are correct. Also, regarding the paper folding one, it is meant to be with your own strength, not using a car or some rig to fold the paper.

Well, this was certainly an enjoyable little time-waster. Some of these “facts” are, indeed, true while other are not. Big deal. You’re sitting in front of a computer, aren’t you? Is it so hard to verify the validity of the claims? And, in doing so, if you feel the inescapable desire to post corrections for the benefit of others, is it necessary to be cruel and rude?
And speaking of posting corrections, I would like to thank all of you who debunked some of these “facts”. Especially those of you who lack the ability to spell, capitalize proper nouns, and use punctuation and proper grammar. Rest assured that your idiotic statements in no way reflect upon your credibility as a disperser of knowledge. Quite the contrary; the fact that you are able to feed yourself (I assume) and function, to a point, in society is — in some parallel universe, I expect — rather impressive. Keep up the good work in reminding us on a regular basis how truly ignorant you are.
To Nick, I would like to say that I, too, chortled quite often while reading these comments.
And, bubbles…Regarding your comment about the paper folding “fact”: What you’re saying, then, it that if I can fold a piece of notebook paper 17 times, but I used a hydraulic press, it doesn’t count? Most of these facts are completely wrong, if you google the meaning of google it is a number that has a hundred zeros after it not a million. The facts do make you think though, just google the answers before you believe them.
