Wow fantastically small.
Am I right in thinking that it doesn’t have any sort of hard drive?? An OS would have to be run live or from an external hard drive?

The flash memory serves the same purpose, just not in the same size/price range. It also has a CF slot so you could add more flash.

Uhh, yeah, and WTF am I supposed to run on that dinky ass computer? Sure as hell not Photoshop or Illustrator. What a waste of time.
May 5th, 2006 at 4:50 am
This is quite an interesting device and definatly demonstrates our various technological developments, but there is no practical use for such a device, atleast not with those specs ^_^ cheche

I did not say what that false Tahir said I said.
In fact, I think this PC is tooooo slow
May 5th, 2006 at 5:51 am
Good point, if you don’t have a use for it (photoshop) then who possibly could? Maybe I could put damn small linux on it and then use it to zombify your neato full sized fisher price window$ pron machine?
May 5th, 2006 at 6:30 am
Graphicartist 2k5: just because you can’t think of a use doesn’t make it a waste of time. you sound like such a short-sighted fool saying that. You couldn’t have run photoshop on any computer from the 50s till the 80s, but I suppose those were all a waste of time as well…. jack-ass.

Having a 2×2x2 COMPUTER to drop into a robot project that has the specs this does would be SO MUCH COOLER/BETTER than just a programmable chipset. I Want Several
Putting this sturdy looking computer into a project Deffinatly has its uses for all sorts of things…

Apparently some of you don’t understand the fact that this is not a desktop pc. Its not meant for you to play on myspace and photoshop with. It has practical applications where space is limited and just enough computing power is needed.

The true geek understands the why in needed to own something like this… Because you can. It’s not what would I do with this, it’s ohhhh what could I do with this.

you people forget NASA took people to the moon with a few 386s
May 5th, 2006 at 9:00 am
I’m currently running a 366mhz laptop with 96 mb RAM, and photoshop works just fine. The majority of almost everyone’s computer work is quite possibly text-based with maybe some video viewing — which doesn’t require a lot of processing power. I run 4 domains and download quite a bit of data daily with very little trouble on processing power. I think the general Internet community is fooled into thinking they need 1ghz+ computers when they truly don’t unless they need it specifically for high-end games.

Nice troll.
The computers on the Apollo spacecraft only had 74 kilobytes of essentially ROM, and 4 kB of something like RAM. A 386 would have been the world’s fastest supercomputer back then. But, no, nobody can do anything useful with it if it can’t run Photoshop!!!!!111

I contacted the maker of the Space Cube, A company called Shamafuji a company of about 14 people who developed the Space Cube. Their web site is http://www.shimafuji.co.jp. and it’s in Japanese, so you should have translator in your web browser to view their site.
I sent them an e-mail which i retrieved from their site e-mail addr. ( info@shimafuji.co.jp ). I inquired about purchasing 5 or so space cubes for myself. The next day, i received a response from Hiroki Kamata, an employee or worker for the company who said they have never sold it abroad (the space cube) - But they are discussing it, and i was told that “Star-Dendee” is to sell this item abroad (To the US.) He provided me with a URL:
http://www.star-dundee.com
Check with the web site. The space cube currently is slightly over 300 Japanese, or Euro dollars, (according to Shamafuji web site) I was unable to determine from the web site exactly if it was Japanese or euro they were referring to, but the figure they gave me was just over “300″
We’re all looking forward to owning one of these sweet little puppies!

There is an even smaller computer at www [DOT] picotux [DOT] com. It has an operating system (linux/busybox) already installed. No graphics, though. You can access it over ethernet or serial.
