Buddhist Sand Art At Namgyal Monastery
|
Namgyal Monastery in Ithaca, New York, is the North American Seat of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The art of painting with colored sand is a traditional Tibetan practice. In Tibetan language this art is called “mandala of colored powders”. After a period of days or weeks, it is ultimately dismantled so that the deity’s blessings will be released into the world. |
