All you guys posting how strong and fit for this job, and for someone to contact them about a crab job are idiots. This job has been exploited sooo much because of the show, I know kids that grow up and say they want to go fish for crab now. What ever happened to wanting to be a doctor. Sooooo many people think they can just go to Alaska and make 30 grand in a month. There are very few jobs and there are thousands of people that want them, not to mention it’s a job for idiots. Fishermen are the high school dropouts. If the only way you can make a decent buck is by risking your life, you are a failure at life. I just graduated college with a Finance and International Studies degree….took me 4 short years and I am making 65,000k a year plus benefits in my FIRST JOB AT 22 YEARS OLD. Just go to school you idiots. I will be making more than these guys for my whole life and I don’t have to risk my life, suffer in the cold, do extremely tough manual labor all day long, and absolutely destroy my body and health. I PAY PEOPLE TO MAKE MY FOOD, WHILE YOUR THE ONE FINDING MY FOOD. Think about that. Your the peasant stuck working for the business owners. I will own your fishing vessels, pay you a fraction of what I make, an never have to leave my own home. All you idiots are always looking for the quick buck for nothing….it doesn’t exist people…go to school…all it takes is 4 years (unless your a REALLY BIG IDIOT and dropped out of high school) and you will make more than these morons for your whole life and never have to lift a finger, leave your family behind for 5 months during the year (KC + Opies), and risk your fucking life…..its simple

I’m a crab fisherman from newfoundland. Yes crabin is a hard job. But the main thing is you don’t get sea sick.next wet and cold. A lot of people don’t like being wet and cold.no good to have piano fingers either. Some of the ones I seen on them alaska boats are drama kings. The best fishermen there are the ones yea don’t see much. there working and don’t have time to talk on tv. I say they make more off the tv show then the crab. Just price some parts and electronics for one of them boats and you will see. I’m 33 and fishing for 15 years. I fish squid,crab,lobster,cod,caplien,herring,mackerel,andd lump fish. I bet over half the people here had one bad trip at sea yous wouldd quit. Fishing is take the bad wit the hard and good. Its not there to catch every single year. I cut logs too and that is just as hard. What makes crabin hard too is you need to be half fish now that’s hard. Lobster fishing is the best and most fun job in the world,but its hard too I haul my lobster traps by hand with one on a string and I have 200 traps out.
