Green Aurora Over Lake Superior

Jeff Hapeman experienced and took a photo of a long last green aurora when visiting the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan. Auroras are sparked by energy particles from the Sun impacting the magnetic environments around the Earth and are known to have many shapes and colors. For more pictures here is an older post of pictures on aurora. You can also view an educational video about auroras as well. You can view the green aurora in bigger size and resolution at NASA.
