Elevator Floor Illusion

Going into this elevator would certainly makes one nervous. A sign at the entrance cautions the people that goes in about work in progress. A more detailed look shows that the floor has been painted with an illusion that there is no floor. 3 more pics after the jump.

      La ilusión del ascensor sin suelo…

      El suelo de este ascensor está pintado para dar la impresión de que no hay suelo, y ciertamente lo consiguen. Solo hay que ver al que entra sentandose sobre el posamanos para darse cuenta de que no está muy tranquilo… :D …

      Why is it that the second photograph (just the shaft image) is such a different proportion of wall to abyss? Has it been distorted… or is that the original image that a photoshopped elevator picture was later created from? My guess is the latter. …but a cool concept nontheless.

      My guess this doesn’t look nearly as cool in person, since we can see depth (3d). Looks convicing in photos but in reality probably looks like any other painting. i.e. NOT REAL.

      Because in order for the illusion to look real, the floor image would have to be stretched lengthwise. It’s called foreshortening.

      Oh, and to all the people who wrote “elavator;” It’s a fucking elevator. It elevates you. Learn to spell.

      The reason you do not find these things in the United States is because someone would claim that they thought they were going to fall into the shaft and that they are suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, are unable to sleep and can not go to work because they suffer from panic attacks every time the approach an elevator. They will sue the elevator manufacturer, the owner of the building, the person(s) who painted the elevator and the companies that made the paint and the paint brush.       You can play this prank at home:

      Measure the lift dimentions.

      Get some cardboard and cut it to size.

      Paint it at home and once it is dried place the cardboard onto the floor of the lift.

      the 2 elevator pics are different. any idiot can see by the details. they are both shopped. the elevators arent the same one. and I doubt 2 different elevators would have the exact same floor painted exactly as another. with the exact same details. impossible
