Creative Advertisements Around The World

An advertisement by Jung von Matt/Alster for watchmaker IWC. Bus straps have been fashioned from images of IWC’s Big Pilot’s Watch to allow bus travellers near the airport to try before they buy at Berlin, Germany. 16 more advertisements after the jump.

A print of a cup of Folgers coffee was placed on top of manhole covers in New York City, USA. Holes on the print allows the steam to come out. Wordings around the cup reads ‘Hey, City That Never Sleeps. Wake up.” from Folgers.

An innovative idea on a large billboard in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It really makes you want that ‘Heineken’.

This is a great advertisment campaign at Unicenter Shopping Mall in Buenos Aires, Argentina for Valentine’s Day. It magnifies the romantic ambience with a simple idea.

Life-size stickers of people were stuck on automatic sliding doors at a mall in Mumbai, India. When someone approaches the doors move apart and it feels like the people on the door are moving away. The person enters to find the message ‘People Move Away When You Have Body Odour’.

A sticker has been placed on the high voltage box depicting that Duracell’s batteries were used. Cool advertisement found in Malaysia.

An ambient exercise to promote Eatalica burgers. A ‘Caution Wet Floor’ board was placed near an Eatalica burger signboard. The copy on the board reads ‘Oogling at the burger may involuntarily cause drooling which may in turn lead to a wet floor. Issued for your safety by the management of Eatalica restaurant’. Eatalica is an American-Italian Food Joint in Chennai, India.

A life size sticker for the horror movie ‘The Maid’ in Singapore placed near the toilet round the corner. The kind of advertisement that makes you pee in your pants.

A giant mirror was built that allowed passersby to stop and look at themselves wearing Indivi clothes at a shopping mall in Tokyo, Japan

An advertisement for a job recruiting company in Berlin, Germany. Depicting people working in the vending machines, ATMs, it delivers the message that ‘Life is too short for the wrong job’.

Stickers were placed in selected car park locations and car workshops where the product is sold in Malaysia. It delivers the message that M-Tech Plasma HID Lights are 300% brighter than regular headlights. The burn effect sticker from the headlights really leaves an impression.

This controversial idea was done in Dubai by Sandeep Fernandes and Husen Baba Khan for the male deodorant, Axe. The mouse pad that every guy needs.

This is an advertisement found in Vancouver during the National Non-Smoking Week. The car was placed at the Vancouver Art Gallery and the message reads ‘Death from car accidents: 370, Death from smoking-related causes: 6,027, Quit now before it kills you.’

Life size images were stuck on glass doors at shops, airports in South Africa for the advertisement of glass and window cleaner I.C.U. The expression on the face is priceless.

Another creative idea by The Fitness Company. Heavy Weights were placed at various subways in New York City which creates an illusion that the person holding the safety bar is doing weights.

A very cost-effective advertisement in Hong Kong for a yoga school. It showcases the prowess of a yoga practitioner on the flexible stems of drink straws. A surge of enquiries and enrollment went after up this promotional stunt.

This is a creative ad by Mini Cooper placed at the Zurich, Switzerland train station. It gives the perception that the Mini Cooper has a large space.

Damn good creative advertising! I wouldn’t mind that kind of creative advertising which puts smile on your face and lightens up your day but unfortunately we are all bombarded by thousands of boring generic ads about washing powders and toothpaste.
November 20th, 2007 at 8:37 pm
A question b4 i move on, is the pilots big watch in the bus real? if yes then i don`t think it can exist in a developing country…. the reason is simple…cuz u can become a second owner right from the on-set u alight the bus without even bothering yourself to go to the duty free shops around the airport….but all the same it`s a nice idea n it`s kool!!!
November 21st, 2007 at 1:53 am
the axe ad is mindblowing. great ideas.
November 22nd, 2007 at 2:33 pm
Why did most of these take me a minute to “see” what was going on? The one with the women trying on dresses in the storefront mirror, for some reason, took me about three minutes to get it!.. All very good in there unique way. The Maid, is my favorite. A close second is the ‘wrong job’ one. Both of those are opportunistic advertisements that must have been scouted to some degree. It takes a person or a couple people with the right eyes to see moments like that. These ads bring the art appreciation into advertising. Has there ever been a truly masterful genius of the opportunistic advertising realm?..
November 26th, 2007 at 8:48 pm
;))
I thought they were pretty good…….alot of them i didn’t get cause im just a teenager but they were pretty good…..i liked how people took a picture of something and replaced it with something else and i also really likes how that one woman walked into the glass….and it was just so slean and clear…that was funny……I just thought the advertisements were really good………nice work everyone=)

These are some great ideas. Most of them wouldn’t fly in North America due to our stringent and encumbering laws here. For example the Duracell batteries on the power box would get Duracell sued by the city. It’s hard to be creative these days… people say every thing’s already been done, it has for the most part. I’ve researched over 20 ideas I’ve had any they’re all copyrighted or patented and have made someone else millions of dollars. It’s depressing. I rely on the weekly lotto to make me rich now.
Rant… in these days of centralization, do more for less money jobs we find ourselves with huge numbers of unemployed people (this includes anyone over 20 working fast food or walmart type jobs that don’t pay enough to put a person above the poverty line, because honestly society should understand that these jobs cannot be considered “humane”) and fewer jobs paying less than they should for the work thats being done. Example: Centralized systems monitoring for multiple companies from one location which employs very few people. Companies outsource large sections of their IT departments and reduce the number of employable jobs by millions across the country. This type of action is disgusting and is ruining the economy. The economy is good you say? Sure it is when we send our children off to school where they need 8 years of education before they can even enter the workforce at a respectable wage. Don’t forget the debt that’ll be over their head for the next ten years! We wouldn’t want our children to be able to buy a house before their 40 would we? Why do we do we allow this to happen? Secondary education ruined my life! If I hadn’t gone to school I’d have a house and two cars paid off by now working in a metal fabrication plant… I enjoyed that job but I thought it was the right, the “normal” thing to do to go to school… Thanks mom and dad you built a shit society for me to live in where everyone’s too afraid of the government to stand up for their own rights. Where people have forgotten that the government is there for US and we don’t hold anyone accountable for wasting billions of dollars supporting foreign countries when we need help at home! Whats wrong with this line of thinking? NOTHING? Help your family first Canada! AHHH!
January 8th, 2008 at 7:44 am
I mean, come on… if the USA cut their beef production by 75% they could use the grain and livestock feed to eliminate world hunger. Personally I’d give up McDonalds and beef if I knew that in turn there was never going to be another hungry mouth anywhere on the planet. Isn’t that a fair trade?
Without hunger think of what those billions of starving people could accomplish for themselves. Without having to struggle 18 hours a day to find enough food to survive they could educate themselves, build communities and be happy… growth could take place.
If the world was managed properly people could work 3 day’s a week 8 hours a day and everyone could live the life of someone who makes a really good salary in North America. The leaders of the world currently keep our wallets slim enough to keep us working, keep us occupied so we don’t think too much, so we don’t get out of hand. Idle hands do the devils work. That’s how the leaders see it. The goal for the leaders in North America at least is to keep everyone busy enough that there are no riots and everything is calm, in France they riot all the time. The people are in control there, not the government. Thats how it should be. I think we need more riots. We need to keep the government in line not the other way around!
this has just turned into a rant… lots of random stuff that doesn’t make much sense I’m sure but if someone likes what they heard let me know… atkinson1982@gmail.com
P.S. I’m not anti anything… I’m pro world without conflict, hunger or hard times.

I am partial to the coffee cup placed over the man hole covers in NYC, it’s good to know that some people are still artistic and creative out there. Turning something so icky and useless into a delicious advertisement that seems to scream “pick me up” is genius! What with all the “ad” people in the world now a days it’s hard to get noticed and have an ad that sticks out and sets you apart from the rest of the world. I think these are all clever ideas!. Now about the mouse under the skirt that AXE did….c’cmon now that’s just tacky.
