Dolphin Massacre In Japan
Every winter, thousands of dolphins are confined and brutally killed in small towns across Japan. Animal advocates and environmentalists considers this barbaric and condemns the slaughter. Fishermen often injure a few captives by spear thrust or knife slash to retain the group since dolphins never abandon injured family members. The water turns red and the air is filled with their agonising screams. They are then dragged to the slaughter place and their throats slashed and left to die. Dolphin meat are later marketed and often disguised as whale meat. 1 videoclip of dolphin massacre after the jump.

it’s not the killing part, it’s they WAY they do it. Unless you’re vegan, we are omnivores so we will probably always have to kill animals for consumption, but this is not the way to do it.

It is sad to see this kind of images and know that Japan is trying to get permission to kill few whales per year for research purposes. Nice for them to ask permission for one animal while brutally killing others that share the same habitat. Smaller the animal -> less interest from the public but perhaps dolphins will be the ones that trigger a larger response that will affect the way we treat other animals too.

how can they do such a brutal deed to the dolphins.Not only me ,most people in the world seems to love them.they are so nice and friendly beings & doesnot do any harm to humans.i have heard that the dolphins use to save humans,who are in trouble in the sea.

I agreed ,only with a selection of animals people complain about cruelty. There are many other species of animals, insects and plants that are suffering without getting any attention.
Also some of videos that you see might be old ones. I am not saying that the world is perfect but some things are changing.
The only thing I wonder is where is all this money to save and help animals is really going to??? I havent noticed any major change when considering all the donations given by the worlds populations annually to help animals in need. I think its a good marketing strategy.

The people who do this are poor excuses for human beings. I agree, with more publicity, this can be stopped. And i care a lot about this issue, as well as others, i try to shed light on a lot of issues involving life as a whole. Human, animal, and plant. Cutting down of forests upsets me just as much, pet brutality the same, it is horrific to see such brutality. They may feed their children off the money they make off of these killings, but they don’t deserve to be paid for this action, needless, they don’t deserve anything less than punishment for it. In the U.S. people go to jail for hurting animals, they do time, pay fines, and they don’t get the animals back, in Japan, they allow this to be happening, and what kills me is that they do it right next to a school yard. Those poor children are witnessing evil up close and personal, and they don’t know how wrong it is. SICKNESS, ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS!

I hate that this is still happening to any type of animal. But what makes it worse is the animals in question here are very intelligent. I was appalled to learn of this by reading about it in Mens Journal. It is cruel and there is no excuse. But I don’t think using racial slurs or “four-letter” words will help this cause be taken seriously. Please think before you speak, or in this case, type. Also, back up your anger with serious action. Write to you congressmen, governors, senators, the president, Japan’s government officials. Tell everyone you know about these atrocities! Stand up and take action. Don’t just blog about it!

For those that compare this to our beef and poultry industry keep in mind that cows are shot with a bolt through their head giving them an instant death. Chickens have their throats slit to die instantaneously. Other then that these are not intelligent animals or predators. Do people NOT realize that farm animals (cows, chickens, etc.) are raised by farmers for meat in America and other countries that follow suit? They don’t capture cows while grazing in fields nor do they snatch chickens that are running around in the forests. It isn’t exactly moral to “slaughter” animals the way America and other countries do; however, farmers raise these animals for that purpose. Something people don’t know is that there are 2 different types of cows: cows that are raised for beef and cows that are raised to give milk. If chickens, cows, etc. were to be left in the wild, they would overpopulate real quick, as they reproduce and grow up fast.
There’s a difference between raising animals FOR food and capturing animals from the wild for competition. Not all Japanese people hunt for dolphins, so people shouldn’t be blaming all Japanese people. Dolphins are wonderful animals that don’t need to be slaughtered, just as whales and tigers are. I’m sure that a lot of “animal lovers” enjoy going to zoos, sea parks (yay let’s go see shamu and dolphins), and other types of places where animals are kept captive, which makes them hippocrites.
For those who try to say “Yeah well, a lot of those animals are injured”. Well, heal them or do whatever needs to be done, and then put them back. Or let them die. That sounds cruel and cold-hearted, but it’s survival of the fittest. If you’re going to keep animals in captivity, you might as well slaughter them. You’re taking animals out of their natural habitats and they really don’t get to live their lives when kept in captivity.
Dolphins, whales, and other beloved animals that do the world good do not need to be hunted. Seriously, dolphins have saved other animals and even human beings (ex. Surfer Todd Endris) from, well, animals such as sharks. Now, I really don’t think that dolphins are going to become extinct because of this, but nonetheless dolphin hunting should be stopped. Let’s not be foolish and say that the Japs deserve to die or don’t deserve to live. It is not true and it makes whoever says that just as bad as those who are doing the actual slaughter.
I didn’t actually view the videotapes, but I’m sure that the videos have been dramatized to some extent or are even hoaxes. Of course, dolphin slaughter probably does happen and isn’t a story plotted by the government to arouse anger towards a country. Kind of like George Orwell’s 1984….
I support the end of dolphin and whale hunting, as well as the end of animal captivity/capturing of animals from their natural habitat.
