The one of the Mountain Peak is very cool, it looks like a Volcano blew it partially off… And the one of the ship is really unique also…

It would have been cool if you got out of your safe, loud and noisy airplane.

COOL! I wonder how you took them. I went to South Africa too about 1 and 3/4 ago with my parents and my brothers. It was so cool.

Thanks for the nice photos. They are great!!!
Very impressed!
December 18th, 2006 at 1:56 am
Hmmm… it must take extreme courage to sit up in that airplane and take pictures of wild animals 1000 ft below! I could never do that. All these years the guys were being so stupid getting up close and taking pictures so we could see animals when they could have done it this way. GENIUS!

I’m South African and those pictures are amazing even to me! i mean i have been to national parks all over, but never seen anything like that! keep it up!

Hey to Hans who wrote “It would have been cool if you got out of your safe, loud and noisy airplane” he was probably in a nice and quite hot air balloon to take such wonderful shots
December 18th, 2006 at 5:27 am
These photos are amazing. It’s not very often that someone can capture experiences like travelling to South Africa that clearly, but he did a really good job.
December 18th, 2006 at 5:57 am
Your pictures are amazing i especially like the one where it looks like theres a boat in the sand
December 18th, 2006 at 6:36 am
You guys suck that slam this guys photos- “must be nice to be in a safe plane” cut and dry the guy was taking different angle photos. Your lives suck if you need t o slam stuff like this all the time. Get a grip.
Great shots btw
December 18th, 2006 at 6:54 am
Well, If he would have gotten out of what ever aircraft he was in, he wouldn’t have taken such breath-taking pictures at such unique angles. It would have been like everyother picture you see. Duh. Bravo, Sir! Keep up the good work with the amzing pictures.

That one picture of the village reminds me of a Star Wars village on Tatooine.

Breathtaking photos. And to those who said the silly things about being in a plane, what a boring, flat world you live in!! We have all seen photos of animals from ground level so is great to see things from a different perspective ….
….this is something different and truly amazing. Well done Michael.
December 20th, 2006 at 7:22 pm
holy shit, that is awesome… i havnt seen any shots like that before. it looks like is been computer generated, but u can tell it isnt. =D
December 21st, 2006 at 7:57 am
Noone said the pictures weren’t nice, I happened to like the pictures, but whoever took them deserves no praise, because it is the laziest and easiest way possible to take pictures of wild animals and any idiot with a camera and plane ticket could do it. If I did it I would post the pictures, but wouldn’t put my name on it like I did something.
People – “Nice job!”
Me – “You don’t know how to work a camera do you?”
Once again:
-The pictures are nice.
-The person who took them was just a dude with a camera.
December 22nd, 2006 at 1:40 am
“any idiot with a plane ticket and a camera could do it”? well thats ridiculous photogtaphy is a talent wether your on the ground or in a plane you still need an eye for a good picture, to know what angle, when to take it, where to take it etc. few people could take such amazinf photos, sure nay one could of taken photos of africa from a palne but could u really take such striking images? i doubt it.
December 22nd, 2006 at 3:33 am
with todays cameras? yea, when you can take 3 pictures a second some of them are gonna be good
December 22nd, 2006 at 3:49 am
Anyone who thinks any idiot with a plane and a camera can take those pi tures is an idiot himself. The 7th picture down, looks like a crop-cirlce or a ufo landing strip. These pictures are awesome and way better than any boring ground shot which we see all the time. These pictures show a part of Africa rarely ever seen and they are a beautiful work of art.

Corey, you’re an ignorant idiot.
And, he’s obviously not just a guy with a camara, since you, mr. know-it-all, knows how much one of those camaras cost.
By the way, these pictures are very good.
They’re clear, balanced, and focused.
I like it.
December 23rd, 2006 at 7:04 pm
Hey Corey
If anyone can take spectacular pictures with today’s cameras, then I guess there wouldn’t be any more need for professional photographers, correct? I mean, newly wed couples could just ask any random guy off the streets to take their marriage photos with some random Olympus camera? No need for those pros out there, because we’re all pros, right?
If everyone can take photographs with this quality, then why don’t I see everyone doing it? Most of the people nowadays (normal civilians) take photos with very pro cameras (those that cost a fortune) and still get suck quality in return.
So, answer my question: Would there be anymore need for professional photographers, or not?

well I don’t think there should be because of the fact that it is a stupid lazy way to earn a living, you don’t pay for talent you pay for their equipment, but there will always be so-called professionals doing things that anyone can do because they choose to spend outragous amounts of money on cameras that the rest of us cant afford because we actualy are WORKING to earn money instead of riding around in planes taking pictures of things….Taking pictures is to remember something special, or it is a hobby noone should be paid tons of money to take pictures of things…and on top of that they act like it is hard, like they have some special talent, the only thing involved is $$$cash$$$ and luck – being in the right place at the right time – nothing more, and i only wish that i could walk around enjoying nature or riding in a plan e and someone would pay me to do it
December 27th, 2006 at 12:13 am
Corey, you sound like one bitter, discruntled ex-photographer who couldn’t make it. And if you so wish… Why not pony up the money for the equipment and a college education then start your own business. THAT is how you get the luxury of “enjoying nature or riding in a plane” and get paid for it.

DOWN GOES FRAZIER!!!!!!
December 31st, 2006 at 4:15 am
Ex photographer? HA! No I believe in getting paid for Hard Work and/or Talent, not for circumstance (taking pictures) to get paid you should either do something that helps/relieves someone (hard work) or be able to do something that most can’t (talent) and I don’t think that taking pictures is hard work, and Im pretty sure most people can figure out how to take a picture, it’s not like its a complicated piece of machinery. Being paid to take a picture is the same thing as getting paid for being lucky or cirumstancial, because most of us rarely walk in our yard and see a plane fall from the sky. Photographers take good pictures because of location (sports event, wildlife, weddings) and they are put in that location because they are photographers. All I can say is if you can take pictures while enjoying life and make a more than decent living, go ahead we should all be so lucky! But don’t expect praise from me because I take pictures all the time and I have never been injured, and I have never gotten physicaly tired.
December 31st, 2006 at 12:03 pm
Seriously corey, get a life and stop whining about what others do for a living, and even if they had given you a good camera you wouldent have managed to take the same pictures even if you were lucky….
sorry for the bad grammar, i dont speak english as mothers tongue

Awesome pictures, I myself have been working on my photography. Corey, taking pictures does take a lot, because you start off and it’s less pay than minimum wage waiter/waitress! It takes talent to spot interesting photos. These cameras, many a time not digital by any means take much time and practice to learn to use, not just point-and-shoot. You need to think of composition, you need to get the focus right, you need to think of lighting and angles, and subject. Photography as a job is usually only worth seeing such exotic places, you usually don’t get paid much at all. “it must take extreme courage to sit up in that airplane and take pictures of wild animals 1000 ft below!” and for this statement corey; it would be a private hired plane, most probably a cessna or beach craft. Private hired aircraft require a lot of money, paying for: the pilot, fuel and any damage that the aircraft sustains. Okay I will stop my rant about you corey. Awesome photographs by the way. Love the angles, and lighting on the mountain picture adds a dramatic affect. -Cd

Very different way of seeing nature.. an offbeat but impressive change from normal landscape photography. Never thought variation in angles at a considerable altitude would produce stunning perspectives to the shots.
Excellent photographs.
January 16th, 2007 at 5:53 am
That is so cool! I would love to go to all those places except maybe the crocs and the hippos places cos they’re dangerous. I wouldn’t mind watching them from far off though. I wish I could go to Africa!!!!

Amazing shoots! Just what I need!

Photographs are unbelievable. Saw your latest book and couldn’t put it down. Live in SA and have visited all the surrounding countries except for Namibia. Your pics bring new life into photography. I remember flying over the Sahara and seeing the amazing colours of the desert and wishing I could capture the scene in a photograph. Well you have done it. congratulations.

I wish mediocre people would stop slamming genius! Just admit that this guy is AMAZINGLY TALENTED and appreciate his work! I’ve been to Zimbabwe and Botswana, and these pictures capture the feeling of the big, wide open space of Africa. Sit back and enjoy, and let your small minds appreciate something bigger than yourselves ~ i.e. TALENT, GENIUS and BEAUTY.
February 4th, 2010 at 8:51 am
Mr Poliza, your photos inspire me to want to create better and more original art, just as you have. They stimulate the imagination and nudge us out of complacency. Amazing! Thank you for sharing your work!!

Those who can’t do “whine” Corey – YOU ARE AN ASS. If you have such a vivid and wild opinion, why were you looking at the photos in the first place? “NEXT TIME YOU THINK YOU ARE PERFECT, TRY WALKING ON WATER” Our world is disappearing due to OUR negligence. It is up to people like Michael and others to document what we have left for future generations by using their unique skills (Yes that includes equipment) and talents. To all photographers, artist, designers, sculptors etc .out there. You rock
