World of Warcraft is VERY addictive and so are alot of MMO’s. It’s worse the more you play and overall not healthy for your mind and body. When you are focused on these tasks in the game, you feel like you are accomplishing something but really you aren’t. It’s trickery. Meanwhile, you are getting carpel tunnel, time flashing by, addicted.

There is hope. I am officially over this stupid game. Here is how you get rid of it.

First, cancel your account.

Second, sell everything or give it to others.

If you don’t want to sell then you can skip that because the third part is crucial.

Third, uninstall the game.

Uninstallment is the most important step because it takes days sometimes just for it to install again with all of the updates.

If you find yourself really installing for days but you know you are addicted then what you do is wait for it to fully upgrade and then, uninstall it again.

Anything can be addictive and games like this can be too but it’s trickery on the brain. You are really accomplishing nothing by sitting in a chair all day. There are people around you that care about you. Pixels don’t.

Really I am truly amazed at the ignorant answers on this post. A few of you out there get it and will have happy lives. Relationships are all about communication you can take the wow in wow addiction and replace it with anything from drinking to infidelity. The problem is still there but I guess for this blameless society that we live in now a day’s it’s easier to blame a video game than to accept that the person doesn’t care or having issues that you refuse to see the clues. I am a heavy player of wow and I also have a great social life like said a few times in this post its all about balance. I could write forever on this crap but I am not going to. Some people understand and others will never be able to. If you can’t communicate then is the relationship really worth it. Azhi, Liisa, Joopey, Tara, and Xar want to give props for intelligent answers. The rest of you haters who hate what you don’t understand will be the ones that keep racisms, sexism, and religious bigotry in common practice for the years to come.

I left my husband over this game. We are still trying to sort it out. The problem is the game as much as the problem is the alcohol when someone is addicted to alcohol. Yes, some people can handle it and not drink so much, but some people can’t. And the addiction does affect other people.

I am neither fat nor ugly and neither is my husband. He did attend the birth of our child. But we have been separated a long time now. I did play the game with him – I played it for 2 years. I did not get sick of it – in fact I have missed it a bit since leaving him. I will never go back to it though. My husband no longer has a job. He has a lot of level 70 characters though. I do not think it would have shown him any respect to delete his characters and it would not have helped – he would have made more. He has to make the decision himself to give it up. And when he does and when we have done a lot of work, I hope we will be back together again. He’s not a bad guy, but he is addicted to a fantasy world.

Newsflash! The problem isn’t the game. It’s your loved ones. Not all us gamers spend a bazillion hours playing the game. Many of us have productive, happy lives with family, friends, etc., outside our games. The people you’re posting about? Yeah, their problem runs far deeper than just a computer game. That problem might even be -you-, Angry Wife/Husband. But it’s so much easier to blame a game than take a look at the bigger picture, isn’t it?

I do feel bad for the kids trapped in this mess though, because I doubt mom or dad’s video game addiction is the biggest concern their family has. Dumbass parents are always full of fail.

Weight gain goes along with keeping the unborn child healthy inside of you and if you have an idiot for a husband like that, yes, it would be hard to lose weight after having a child. Stress and no time for yourself to exercize because idiot is on the computer 24/7 and cannot help take care of a child that he helped make. When you marry someone, you marry them for who they are. I admit some people do have to be physically attracted to the person but stop being an idiot for at least ONE second. Everyone KNOWS that people’s appearances change as they get older. You take the chance of your HUBBY or WIFE gaining weight, getting wrinkly, etc. Understandable that she gained weight after having baby and maybe he isn’t so attracted to her anymore but did you ever stop to think that maybe she isn’t attracted to him anymore either since he became Nerd King of WoW? I wouldn’t be attracted to anyone that sat on their smelly ass for 16hrs-24hrs straight playing a computer game either. Spend some fucking time with your family.
He needs to be a husband and father. Not an idiot. You can play video games and shit like that before you get married and have a family. Grow the fuck up. And I assure you that you will regret all of the time lost with your child once you realize what you’ve done. And if not, you don’t deserve her or your child.

I’m surprised that ditz even knows what a computer is. Well Tyra has been showing us exactly what is wrong with the couples of this world: the fucking housewives who pride themselves on bringing their private issues to the publics eyes and getting plenty of sympathy to fill the void in their crappy lives. I’m sorry but this seems like some propaganda to undermine men and those who have lives outside their marriages. Not only that but it makes WoW players feel like crap. Well i have been married for almost 20 yrs and my soo to be ex husband is a video game looser. He got our son involved in w.o.w . And my youngest son Zachary and Zac loves to open a guild and take peoples money for the guild and then keep the money close the guild and join another guild and to the repeat process again and again and now he isnt online like the rest of the men in my family .My husband goes to work he is a foreman and when he comes home he likes to play his w.o.w and when he plays it he wants silence he doesn’t help me parent the kids my oldest you need a crowbar to pry him off the comp to get him to do any chores and then you have his father who will yell at me instead of his son correcting his son for inaprorpiate behavior towards his mother i cant get his son to do anything but argue with me over that game the least little thing . And then you have his father telling me it’s either he play’s w.o.w or he would be a alchoholic.. it has gotten so bad with this man i am divorcing him and im going to have it brought up in a dviorce hearing this guy dont even want to throw the ball to his youngest child we have a pool he doesnt want to go swimming all three of them are over weight they need excersize and this man just sits there and plays his stupid game this game causes fights arguments neglect im about ready to pack my stuff and my youngest stuff move into a freinds home and start divorce proceedings. WOW should be banned,or monitored for only 3 hours use. True story folks: My grandchild called last night all upset and crying. Why,you ask? Because mom and dad had not fed them dinner and it was late. See mom and dad could not fix dinner because they were on a quest on WOW. My grandchild comment was,” mom and dad ignore us,I wish I could smash thier computers.” Mom and dad have not bothered to buy groceries in two weeks,or clean the childrens room,or wash clothes. Once upon a time before WOW they we’re good parents. It is to late for the oldest child. For the rest of his life he will remember how mom and dad ignored him,did not cook dinner,paid for WOW and not school supplies. No matter what I say,nothing matters,they don’t want to hear it. My only option left is to legally take the children away. Then they can have thier WOW life and the children can have a normal life.

I am a mother of 2 beautiful children and my husband is a lazy ass who plays that game 16 hours a day. Too lazy to work, or do anything but play that game. Neglects and ignores his family.

This is really sad. I am sad to see so many young men (and by your replies I would guess you are REAL young) that can’t prioritize their lives. Regardless of the situation with the delivery and shredding cds that was seen on Tyra…not even taking that into consideration… if you spend so many hours on anything each day, whether it be fishing, gaming, or sleeping, you have serious issues. I don’t care what kind of “respect” you think you are getting. What do you have to show in the end? What did you accomplish in your life?

I don’t think that some of the people who have posted realize this is a life situation. Calling a woman a fat b*** is so immature and ridiculous. My husband plays WoW, sometimes I have a problems with it too, but we try to work it out. I think it was great that Tyra had this on the show, it’s a real life situation that’s in alot of different homes all around the world. Dealing with the situation in the way of shredding a CD did nothing. I think that couple needs counseling and to really get priorities straight in their lives, both the woman and the man. I can respect that someone might like something and enjoy playing games, it’s not something I understand or can relate to but not everyone can relate to my hobby of music.
As a person I you have to realize that life brings you responsibilities and you have to take them if you choose them. Having a kid and a wife is a responsibility, they should be a man’s top priority in life. Man was made to fulfill a life as a provider, not an addicted person who is selfish and only wants to do what he wants in life. Woman have to respect that men need their own time to do things too, it can’t be just all about them, and I think that that issue is makes a vicious circle in todays society. Women are beings who desire attention and love from their spouses. We don’t always realize that men need more alone time. Therefore a wife may get too clingy and wants to spend as much time together as possible with her husband- and anything that gets in the way may be seen as a threat to that. As that happens husbands and get deeply involved with things like WoW or Halo 3, and then the wife needs more attention, and then the men get more involved. Basically thats the way I see this happening (even in my own life at times) and causing situations like the one seen in this episode.
I think that if you can’t be mature enough to take on responsibilities and give away selfishness and have childish attitudes towards real life situations, you shouldn’t be posting comments insulting and humiliating situations that are in people’s lives.

I’m addicted to the game, but I’ve quit playing for 17 days now. And I’m not going back…
It wasn’t that hard to give it up, the only question you have to ask yourself is what is more important the game being a large part of your life or not, get help while you can from your friends and family.
