I don’t really think “Stilt house” qualitfies as a wierd home. Looks like it’s just a regular house that was temporarily lifted off its foundation to create an additional ground floor.

If I can plan my route next year, I get to drive by the boat house in Halifax every day on the way to school. =) I love the weird house with the mirrors…I don’t understand how it works, but I love it.

The Dome House is one that I’ve seen on TV; I believe it was on the Travel Channel.
This house was designed to be a perfect counter to the hurricanes they are frequently plagued by in the region. It can withstand horrendous gales beautifully.
I believe that it began as a balloon of sorts, with cement poured over it; the balloon then supported the cement while it dried, and was deflated afterwards.

The thin house in London is not an actual house but just a frontage built to hide the railway behind.

The Montara house is not a house, but an abandoned military bunker from World War II.
Clearly the “Thin House” in London is just a facade that remains standing after the rest of the building was demolished. In the US they do that to build “new” under the less-expensive, and easier to permit, cover of “renovation.”

I really must say that i like most of the houses because they are unique, phantastic, some beautiful, some ugly but they all do have character. Of course my favorite is the Castle House in the Dom. Republic, i’ve always loved castles and stone hauses.

If you like castle type houses and would like to holiday in a “fairytale castle”, look up Clytha castle in Wales, it’s one of the properties let by the Landmark Trust.

I think the dome house looks like a cat. the cube house doesnt look like its actually a house at all. the stilt house in naples was actually built that way because in case the water rises, to keep it off of the ground. a lot of houses are like that.

The thin house in London isn’t actually a house. Its a fake front that they would build to shield the public eye from an opening in the underground tunnels, back when the trains ran on steam and needed air every now and again.
