Have a look at the wonderful slide shows on Heather Jansch's website for more information about her artwork and her methods of working (heatherjansch.com) - she has work on show all over the world.

For those of us who can't afford a sculpture, she has a beautiful book available with lots of sketches, photos and fascinating anecdotes.

Heather Jansch and Deborah Butterfield (independently, on different sides of the planet, beginning well before the internet...) both created horses from driftwood - but for me - there the similarity ends!

Sam A, I don't really agree with you. Maybe the methods used to build the horses are familiar, but I far prefer Ms Jansch's work. It seems to be more organic and lifelike than Ms Butterfields work.

Although these sculptures look technically well-done, I have a problem with the closeness of the concept to Deborah Butterfield's work. Therefore Heather Jansch's work becomes a 'copy' of the original artist and this is a distraction.

It is hard for all artists to find their own voice but Ms. Jansch needs to seriously consider how this body of work hurts her more than establishes her.

Wonderful. You have not only captured the outer form, the inner structure and the horse's strength, but, also it's essential spiritual nature which makes a horse what it is. This goes far beyond art, it seems to be a spiritual discipline blended with a deep love of the subject.

These are awesome!! I love them! We are currently building an equestrian center that will hold national horse shows and would love to have a driftwood horse at the entrance of the facility! What is the availability and prices? Are you able to ship to the United States?
