They are so cute it’s unreal. I can’t believe they are so spiky even when they are new born. I saw this video on YouTube http://www.psstit.com/share/pet-hedgehog.html and now I want one too. I bet they’re a bit more work to take care of though.. I hope you post some videos of them on YouTube!

well its not too bad for the mother coz when they’re newborn the spikes are all soft the harder and well spikier ones grow but evan there soft thats why you an hold them in your bare hands when they’re babies but you have to were gloves when they get bigger..ya i,m a brainbox i know

Actually, babies are born with a thin layer of skin over their spines, and very soon after they are born the spikes poke through the skin, so it is not painful for the mother at all.

Definitely cute. But I can kind of see where the inspiration for Bowser in Mario Bros. might have come from.

Hedgehogs are not born with spikes but they appear later in the day, I think

Aww! My litter looks about like the last picture right now. :D

And Alex is right, hedgehogs are not born with their spikes. They’re under the skin, and they come out shortly after birth. My hedgehog Junie recently gave birth, so I’m pretty familiar with ‘em.

hedgehogs DO NOT have to be held with gloves. i have 3 all in which i hold without protection,if a hedgehog is comfortable with you the quills lay flat and tucked to thier body.
