This picture seems more like the children are so grateful of their parents adopting them, showing more love and compassion than they have ever been given. I see nothing negative about this ad.

Hi my name is Malini Dhirai, i m an Indian based in Bahrain. Its been 8 yrs to my marriage and i have not been able to conceive. i tried IUI and IVF thrice but failed to conceive. Now me and my Hsband have decided that we would go for adoption. I will be glad if you can hep me in this matter.

I think you didn’t see the other side of the picture. In my own perspective, adopting or having a child is what really parents dreamed of, this is their big dream that cannot be scaled by any means. For them this is the biggest treasure every parents should have.
The big picture of the children represents how big the love a child can bring to parents or adoptive parents, a child can really make a big difference.

This is so perverse. Matthew Mancuso would love it! Unfortunately he’ll never see these ads. He’s in prison for the next gazillion years for forcing his little adoptee, Masha Allen, to nurture him and his camera on a daily basis–iuntil the FBI nailed him.

I really don’t understand what the advertisers are trying to say here. There are pictures of children nurturing and comforting adults. As an adoptive parent, I enjoy the love that I receive from my son but it is nothing that amounts to him nurturing me or meeting my needs. If I went into an adoption thinking that he was going to make me feel loved and wanted…it would have been disastrous.

Adoption is giving and giving and giving to a child who did not ask to be adopted. I fear that if you tell people that they will “receive more” then they will expect more from their adopted child. The truth is that they don’t owe us anything. It is what makes their love such a precious gift.

I do *not* think these are positive adoption ads. As an adoptive parent I do receive immeasurable joy from parenting — as I think many parents (adoptive or otherwise) do. And, yes, I did adopt because I wanted to parent a child so there were personal motivations in my decision — just as I hope most parents who intentionally get pregnant are doing so because they want to parent a child. But the adoption process/system must foremost be about what is best for children and must be driven by *their* needs. In order to promote informed, ethical adoptions it must be presented in a light that reinforces that adoption is about the *children*.

I really don’t know how you can think this ad is “nice”. It definitely signifies what adoption does, meets the needs of the adopters at the expense of the child and their childhood.

Maybe more like realistic.

What these images say to me is that the child is there to fulfill the needs of the adult. I didn’t realize that adopted children are expected to take on full time jobs of nurturing the adults. I thought parents have the job of nurturing. This is very sad reflection of the reality for many adopted children.

A highly accurate picture of adoption..

Children nurturing adults.

Adoption is understoof by the public as a vehicle to serve the interests of CHILDREN.. However, adoption as it is currently practiced serves the needs of adults with money, not children who need homes.

A most accurate, if horrifying, picture of contemporary adoption.
