David Smith Weight Loss Story

David Smith was 630 pounds in 2003 and decided to change his life by going through only carb cycling for weight loss. Now 2007, he weighs at a stunning 229 pounds, losing 401 pounds but still has excess skin on his body. He underwent several surgeries to remove the excess skin and after that he looks just like any other normal guy. Definitely an inspiration for a lot of the unhappy souls out there.

What a beautiful connection between two people! I’m sure that each taught the other valuable lessons. I’m so proud of them…and of course you know that this was NOT just a calorie burning excercise, but a spiritual one: being able to look at ones life clearly. This story brought me to tears of joy. When you lay down at night in the comfort of your pellow and look up at darkness, you alone are with your thoughts….the closest one to you has their own. That is just the way it is. How would you describe yourself? What do you want to change? Thanks David! Sincerely, Tim Fox

Thank you for sharing your inspiring story. I know you have had a difficult journey through life before and during your transformation. I hope you continue to set and obtain your life goals and that you will be able to assist another as your trainer friend did you. You are both amazing men !

I saw a new program on him on youtube and his trainer gave a website name but when i typed it in nothing came up. I need to know the diet program that they put him on bc he said that he did only like 3 days of exercise a week and that it was mainly the diet that contributed to his weight loss. How can i find the diet plan. If someone knows please e-mail me at greenlanterntexas@yahoo.com.
Thanks
Clint

Clint, what he did was called carb-cycling but any controlled carbohydrate plan will do it. The media and the medical establishment are so hellbent on low-fat and low-calorie eating but they don’t work for most people–even if you lose weight, you’re starving the whole time. It’s not hard to believe weight loss can come from dieting because excess weight is about fat storage to begin with, which is about the kinds of calories you consume and in which proportions, not about your fitness level. I recently read about a 200+ pound woman who is a triathlete, for instance.

January 28th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
@Laya - Read the whole post next time. He did get it removed.

are you kidding me with this huge round of applause for this little turd? The only people entitled enough to get that friggen disgustingly and inexplicably huge are the ones who would be able to have their mommies and daddies pay probably $50,000 to have his mongoloid skin - flaps removed! You aren’t a triumph by correcting the mistakes of being a disgusting incapacitated loser in the first place. Better to have shot you in your cholesterol laden belly than to have used so many resources to make you look “normal”. Hope your girlfriend enjoys licking your scars, frigging waste of carbon!

mike shanahan, you are an a$$hole. Some messed up things happened to David when he was a kid and he used food as a comfort. He had some emotional problems and his weight got out of hand because the more people would make fun of him and abuse him for being fat, the more he would eat to comfort himself. The reason he deserves praise is because even after getting that out of hand, he actually lost all that weight with diet and exercise alone. Do you know how hard that is? And as for your mommie and daddy theory, his mom is dead- on her deathbed she begged him to lose the weight. I’m not sure if his dad is in the picture. Doctors donated the surgeries because they were so impressed by David’s accopmplishments.
David, If you ever are in the Philly area and want to go on a date, let me know!

yeah mike shanahan, don’t be a jerk.
there is a disorder called BED. an eating disorder like anorexia/bulemia, except the opposite. or even like drugs and smoking…eating can become an addiction for some people, and its not as easy as “normal” people think to regain control
im not saying that david had BED…i dont know much of his story
but my point is, just because someone is obese doesn’t mean they gladly and threw themselves in that direction.
if there’s psychological issues involved, it’s NOT as easy as saying “oh man, im gaining a lot of weight. im going to stop” and then stopping.

Respect!

He has had the skin removed. Dr Mehdi Mazaheri did it for him. He specializes in skin removal for the massive weight loss patient. David look awesome now and you can tell that he has gained a lot of confidence as well!! I’m truly proud of him and all the doctors that donated their services to help him feel human again.
April 7th, 2008 at 12:23 am
Really glad for him. It’s important for obese people to lose their weight especially for health reasons.

Congrats on all that weight loss

God Bless You David! My 12 year old is chunky, and often made fun of or bullied. We have talked about these issues and have even talked to counselors at school. It’s been really tough for her( as I’m sure it was for you) trying to fit in at school when the other kids are constantly harrassing her. I tell her that she is a beautiful and worthwhile human being,
she’s funny and creative, and that those kids are missing out on a great friend. I encourage all parents to teach their kids (especially middle schoolers) to respect other people. Words hurt and they damage our self esteem. Thank you, David, for sharing your story. God Bless.

Hi David, my name is Jeff. I am 18 years old, 6′ and weigh 340 lbs. I am a gamer and usually play around 10 hours a day with a 40 hour week job, eat lots of junk food, and it doesnt help that I work at mcdonald’s. Inspired by your story, Yesterday I decided to put away the video games for the next four months and change my eating habits drastically. I used to drink 1+ Litres of pop a day. I have now been caffeine free for a week. When I do eat at work, i now substitute the fries for a side salad. The drink, a water. And I usually go for a healthier meal besides a double cheeseburger. I am doing alot more to help out around the house such as using a push mower for the lawn, and scrubbing the floors in circular patterns instead of using a mop. I try to do cycling for 1 hour a day and am now walking everywhere instead of taking a taxi.
I just want to say thanks for all the inspiration you have given me and I look forward to joining you in the winners circle.
