Takeru Kobayashi, the six time champion lost to Joey Chestnut, a 23 year old engineering student from California at the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island. Joey ate a world record 66 hot dogs while Kobayashi had 63. Late June Kobayashi had reported of jaw ailment that made him open his mouth with pain and almost had to forfeit his participation in the contest.
