Hoover Dam 01

The Hoover Damn is a concrete dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River on the border between the US states of Arizona and Nevada. It was also used for some of the scenes in the blockbuster movie Transformers where Megatron was kept frozen underground in a secret facility. The construction period of the dam took around 5 years 1931-1936 and costed $49 million. Lake Mead is the reservoir created behind the dam and the Lake Mead National Recreational area is the fifth busiest US National Park. The Hoover Dam and Lake Mead attracts 8 to 10 million visitors each year. Check out 8 more impressive shots of the Hoover Dam after the jump.

I took better pictures of HOover Dam when I went there.

You also forgot to mention that Hoover Dam is very well-guarded because an assault on the place would knock out 7% of the US Economy.
