Kid’s Cardboard Cutout Slows Down Traffic

Kid's Cardbaord Cutout

An Ohio man is using cardboard cutouts of his children to slow down motorists. The idea is not new where cardboard cutouts of policeman has been used before. Frustrated by motorists unwillingness to slow down, he puts up these life size cutouts in his yard.

His idea has been posted on some law enforcement web sites around the country and he is selling the signs for $60 now. NBC4 has a slide show about this whole story.

      What if people get used to seeing them and don’t bother to slow down when the real kids are out there?

      This will lead to drivers ignoring kid signs and eventually killing kids. The Cry wolf Syndrome. There is no consequences for speeding by a cardboard cutout of a kid so people will do so. When enough of them know this place.. they will ignore it and when the read kids are playing. SMASH.

      Drivers just wont slow down.

      This is a bad idea. Brings a whole new meaning to the boy who called wolf. I can see the headline now. 4 Year Old Boy Killed, driver thought it was a cardboard cutout… Hopefully the guy making these comes to his senses.

      Drivers will start to ignore the cut out and one day when his kid runs out in the road, he will get hit.
      My sister puts cones in the road with a sign that tells drivers to slow down children are playing when he is out side. I agree that drivers need to slow down, but parents need to watch their children more.

      Thank goodness there’s no law that says you need to slow down for a picture.

      I think it’s a good idea to alert drivers except for those reckeless and irresponsible drivers.
