Wireframe Toyota Corolla

Nope this is not some wireframe CGI or cell shaded animation but a real scale model of a Toyota Corolla created by artist Benedict Radcliffe which was rendered entirely using wire. This new work was commissioned by Japan’s Densu Inc for an advertising campaign in the Middle East.

This is how they used to do computer-looking-special effects for movies when they didn’t want to pay for it.

Very cool. I’ve never seen anyone do something like this before, I’m very impressed with the applied creativity — and very curious as to how long it took to make. I’d be interested in doing something like this myself…

This is merely a larger scale copy of the “African wire craft” motor vehicle scale models found in South Africa, and the concept is more than a decade old. Benedict obviously visited Cape Town and adopted the idea to a larger scale.
