Weapon Sculptures And Furniture

Weapons Furniture 01

Creative sculptures and furnitures made from military weapons which was initially a project started after more than 30 years of civil war. In 1998, the Cambodian government destroyed 125,000 weapons across the country but ‘The Peace Art Project Cambodia’ (PAPC) was created in November 2003 to get rid of the weapons in an artistic way. Its a great expression where weapons of war becomes iconic arts of peace.

Things like this have always struck me as a bit animistic - that is, by molding weapons into these shapes, we have symbolically “vanquished” the “evil spirits” that live within them. Note the copy:

“Its a great expression where weapons of war becomes iconic arts of peace.”

The verbiage is strikingly primitive and shamanistic.

Confiscating weapons from people isn’t some “quest for peace”. Just call it what it is: “confiscating weapons”. Time will tell whether you have actually set the stage for peace - or a genocide.

Let us not forget the Rwandan genocide: 400,000 people hacked to death with machetes and garden hoes.
