Harajuku – Japanese Fashion

The Harajuku Girls are teenagers in the area of Harajuku (district in Tokyo where it all began) who are dressed in any fashion style and may be members of various sub-cultures including Gothic, Lolita, Ganguro, Gyaru and Kogal. They may also be dressed as characters from an anime, movie or manga. Uniquely only to Japan, these teenagers express themselves freely with the Harajuku fashion.

Good article. I’ve been into Japanese Fashion for years.
But I just want to say one thing. “Harajuku” is not a fashion style or trend. Harajuku is a district in Tokyo where young Japanese teens go to flaunt their unique style. I’ve been around lot’s of Anime fans and other fans of the Japanese culture, and they refer to it as “Japanese Street Fashion” or sometimes “Japanese Fashion”, “J-Fashion” or “J-Style”.

We visit style-arena.jp almost daily. The site gives us an idea on what people are putting on in their everyday life. There are gaps between street and runway fashion, and between Asian and Western tastes. Those street fashion photos are making our reference when we are stocking for our clothes inventory.

Japan’s fashion is timely since it showcases the forecasted colors for year 2010. Blue and silver are the major colors for 2010. I like to wear Japan’s fashion since it gives me a contemporary look and I learned this fashion tip from image consulting group@866-565-7541

coolest thing is that most of the time they dont just go out and buy this stuff. they design it themselves. clothing companies actually go there to get ideas

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS STYLE!
I’m in cosmetology and we have to do a hairshow with hairstyles around the world
I’ve chosen to do Japan because I am an anime fan
The clothing and hair styles they use in Harajuku is so cool and unique
its reminds me of the “emo” “sceney” types here in Austin
HARAJUKU RULES!!!!
I’m doing the chick with the red hair for my project >.<
hope I win!!

Pictures are fantastic, terrific.. Might wish to be in Japan, or that the imagination of the district be exported.
Only disappointment, and not for me to tell others what to do – but I am sorry to see beautiful young lady firing up the cancer stick. … She might also need to be careful with that flame near her hair…
( … And yes, I used to smoke. 3 packs a day. )
