Man there are some idiots on this forum….

Just to clear something up for people who “call fake” because of the time it takes for this stuff to set or other shortsighted reasons;
The guy was on vacation so they knew how long he would be gone and when he’d be back.
The keyboard and mouse were REPLACEMENTS! His were hidden away as most companies don’t look too kindly on staff destroying company equipment via sugary sabotage.
Last thing is Jell-O is NOT the name of the product, it’s the name of the brand. Americans use it colloqially and just say Jell-o/jello because it’s recognisable and because they’ve taken to calling jams and preserves ‘jelly’.

And lastly a message to WTF further up the page, LEARN TO USE REAL WORDS YOU FEAKING IDIOT, YOU SOUND LIKE A TOOL. Okay, rant over.

I’m pretty sure it’s Jell-O in America because of the brand. Just like Q-Tips…. Q-Tip is a brand, not a product. We just call them Q-Tips because it’s easier than what they are actually called. However, the jelly thing I am not familiar with… however on the package of Jell-O it says its a gelatin snack, so I’d have to guess they just use “jelly” to shorten it.

Question…
In America for fruit spread we have a few different names: jelly, jam, preserves (maybe more)… is it all just jam in Britain?

The keyboard is likely usable. NPR had a episode where people washed their keyboards in the dishwasher. Most of them continued to work.

This would an even better prank if the items in question were securely bound in plastic wrap (and put in the jell-o at a temperature that wouldn’t melt the plastic wrap). That way, you’d still have the shock factor, but the items could be used almost immediately.

I don’t think you read the article. It’s a prank, the person enclosed the keyboard in Jell-O so that when the victim gets back he’s in for a sticky surprise.
