Tree Man Dede Koswara Getting Better

Dede Koswara dubbed the Tree Man is back after nine months of operations to remove the woody growth from his body. He was once sacked from his job, deserted by his wife and shunned by his neighbors - treated like a freak becaused of his gnarled growths sprouting from his hands and feet. The warts on Dede’s body was the cause of a severe Human Papilloma Virus infection.
The 37 year old man’s life quality has improved where he now can use his hand write and use the cell phone. Dede still has to go through more surgery in October after the fasting month to trim more warts and was given strong course of medicine including vitamin A in an attempt to prevent the return of the growth.
Check out 2 more pics of Dede Koswara the tree man getting better after the jump.

I hope so, too! All the best to him in the future!

Hope he will get better soon. I can not wait to see the new picture of him in October. God Bless Dede!

I’m glad he’s getting better!

Life truly HARDCORE…
It’s amazing how some human beings are made to suffer in this world as a result of accident, bad luck, disease, genetics, deformities–congenital and non-congenital defects, DNA mishaps, and so forth.
This is a strong man..others would surely committ suicide if they had to trade places with him. I pray to God a cure for this sort of thing is found for Dede and for others like him who are suffering without reprieve or hope.
Bless you Dede and I hope you get to reclaim your body and your life soon!

shunned by his own MUSLIM country, and made a spectacle of, and explioted by his fellow MUSLIM country men for profit. Its encouraging to see that a predominately christian country (USA) has offered to help cure his affliction for no more then the fact that they actually care for this Human Being. Thank god for this situation, and i hope you get better Dede, then you will know the power of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

CastroBC, it’s alright, we get it, muslims are evil terrorists and the scum of the earth, inhuman and without morals. Pure, subjective and totally disrespectful generalization (I also like to call that predjudice). That, my friend, is self-importance at it’s worst. If that’s what christianity taught you, I feel really sorry for you and I’m glad I didn’t listen to it to become such a pathetic, predjudiced knobhead. Because we all know that christians, on the other hand, are caring people who never shun or exclude people (ahem) and who have the answer to everything in the world thanks to the unlimited power of a bearded man up in the sky who, surprise, doesn’t even exist. Have you ever tried to pray God for a cure for cancer ? What happenned ?

When I saw the first documentary on Dede Koswara, I couldn’t believe the misfortune of this man. I couldn’t help but be completely in tears by the end of the program. Watching the newer program made my heartbreak even more, since the suspense of his condition was terrible! I’m so glad he’s showing improvement, and I hope he continues to heal.
October 20th, 2008 at 11:55 am
CastroBC, it is people like you that push others away from christianity. I do not believe in your god or theirs but I would still respect and treat you both as equals. Your comments are just as bad as the people who taught him for his condition. Sociologically speaking christians seem to be the most judgmental people I have ever come across. I hope you find a more peaceful way.

This story made me cry. I really hope he gets better aweee.

Dede’s story is certainly one that everyone can look upon and be inspired - he is strong, he is hopeful, he is faithful. I am glad and thankful that he hasn’t given up and it is people like him that allows for a better appreciation of life - no matter who or what we believe brought us here. I pray for you Dede and your family!!! Thank you for being such a strong and courageous man

I hope Dede fully recovers from this. He has been through a great. However, people should be educated about HPV, and that there are many other symptoms caused by such virus. Dede got one of the worst symptoms I think. Best of luck to Dede. I hope he will one day become self-sufficient, so that he can support his family.

This representation of Christ-based faith disturbs me. I would like to believe that the reason the American doctor wanted to help was because of his Christian convictions. Truth to be told, I have seen 2 documentaries on this story and I have yet to hear the doctor mention anything about any religion. I could have missed it, but I am just saying that I haven’t heard it. And Marc, answering the question that you asked CastroBC, I have prayed for a lot of people with cancer and other issues that I cannot understand. I have seen cases where the cancer mysteriously disappears, and I have seen cases where the person dies. Personally, I try to get my hands around this, and I just cannot. Why would some people, good or bad, live long healthy lives while others struggle with so many things? The only way that I can explain it is that maybe this thing called life is bigger than me, you, or anybody else. Maybe it is for His glory, not our comfort, and we are the supporting cast, not the main characters. I don’t mean to preach a sermon, but I can’t help but respond when I see somebody who misrepresents not only what I stand for, but what I live for.

I would be willing to send Dede some supply of the best herbal immune support supplement available if I had the address of where to send it. At my own cost, I would be glad to send him the most powerful, natural herbal supplement that is made in USA by the best herbal extract manufacturer in the world. This will help boost his immune defenses greatly and help his own immune system to get strong and fight the virus. These natural extracts are very helpful. I can be reached at the e-mail address attached to this message - wavejumper@alltel.net.

Thanks Disturbed and I agree.
My oldest son has an inoperable lesion in the center of his brain. Sometimes I am angry with God…But I also know that he’s always there. Mostly. though, we just have a great life. That’s saying more than a lot of people. I pray every day, for him and for others. I don’t have to understand why this stuff happens…I just have to know who does. I also know that we are a better family, I am a better mother, my husband is a better father, and my son says he’s a better person now than before his illness. I don’t believe that his illness came from God, but I do know that our response to it did ,and does. Some of the previously listed problems with Christianity, it seems, comes from confusing God with people. We are sometimes insensitive, selfish, and judgemental. God isn’t and he loves us any way. I’m sorry that some of you have been hurt or disappointed by Christians or non-christians. People sometimes do these things. God never does.

I’m so thankful he’s going to recover, I hope they can also help his friends that were in that “circus” show they used to perform him. All I can do is thank god that this hasn’t happened to me or anyone I know, and pray to god to spare others and cure this poor unfortunate man.

OK. firstly, i would like to apologize to any and all that i have offended. No, wait on second thought, scratch that idea. I will not make any compromise on what i fervently believe in. Marc, your a moron. Read my post more thouroughly and then reply!! It is absolutely true, that what i wrote about “his muslim people and country” shunning him, and making a spectacle of him due to his unfortunate condition, is abhorant, to say the least. From my vantage point, i haven’t seen anything to suggest otherwise!!! In places like Australia, America, etc (Christian based counrties, that actually pratice democracy!!!) the way this fiasco has been handled would most definately be frowned upon!!!! Did Dede’s MUSLIM government intervene, and say “hey this sort of exploitation of this poor human being will not be tolerated!”????NO!!! Instead, they would rather have nothing to do with it. So, yes, in my eyes he has become a PARIAH, to his own people due to his condition! That, MY FRIEND, is disgraceful!! Look at fact you knobhead! If this American doctor(which in that part of the world, indonesia, is an excellent candidate for kidnapping, due to various reasons, ie. these MUSLIMS would like to exterminate anyone that is not) had not wanted to treat Dede, where would Dede be now??? ever thought about that??? Or if the Western world didn’t make and doco’s on Dede, or bring any attention to the general population about his condition, most definately, Dede would be either dead or in that moron’s circus act! I find it IRONIC, that this practicing muslim is being treated by his sworn enemy. And Marc, if you haven’t travelled to Indonesia, let me tell you now, IT IS LIKE THAT!!! Extremely closed minded, in an almost dictator stlye government that is ANTI everything not MUSLIM!!! So, get your head out of you know where, and take notice of the REAL world.
Jennie, “Sociologically speaking christians seem to be the most judgmental people I have ever come across. I hope you find a more peaceful way.” are you serious???? Have you ever travelled abroad??? Tell that line to these MUSLIMS who cut heads off of westerners, treat their women as second class citizens, and lets not forget, try to bring their way of “life” into our work places (we have to accomodate for their RAMADAN, but will they accomodate for anyone elses beliefs??? i think not!!)and oh yeah COUNTRIES!!(terrorist attacks!!!ring a bell??no? how bout THE BALI BOMBER??? OR THE TWIN TOWERS??? OR THE ATTACKS IN ENGLAND ETC ETC ETC) I dont see any budhists, christian, jews etc etc. attacking other countries in the name of ALLAH!!!! Forget all the P.C. rubbish! Im only stating the IRONIC TRUTH here!
Disturbed, get off the fence! You know what happens if your lukewarm right?? My representation of the CHRISTIAN faith, is MINE!! Which happens to be passionate in what i believe in, none compromising, and un-apologetic! I never wished harm to Dede! But i did reprimand the way his people have treated him, nothing more. This situation in my eyes is something GOD has allowed,(everything happens under GOD’s watch)in order for Dede to know him better,(ever think about that GUYS??) more over open the eyes of MUSLIMS to see the good in man, not just there own people!!!
IM NOT TRYING TO WIN FRIENDS BY BEING PC, IM STATING THE IRONIC TRUTH!!!!!!!!
IT MOST DEFINATELY HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH RELIGION! YOU DONT HAVE TO LOOK HARD TO FIND CONTRAST IN DEDE”S TREAMENT!!!
that is all…………….

I wish there was some way that i could let him know that clorox kills warts. It has to be the clorox brand. They just fall off when saturated twice a day with clorox. It really works. I have used it to kill warts on me my horse and the kids.

You should try reading the Qur’an before you condemn the BILLION+ people who follow the peaceful text.
November 17th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
I wish Dede the best but i hope he never encounters people like CastroBC who are complete dolts that know nothing about anything.
Praying and having faith in anything is utterly useless and won’t save or help anyone with a disease like this. If it was up to religion we wouldn’t be exploring cures for diseases like this, instead everyone would rely on their power of pray to cure everyone and dede would be worse off than he is.
How can someone (CastroBC) have the audacity to criticize the open-mindedness of anyone when he himself is closed-minded? I am baffled. He talks of the Muslim people hating non-muslims, yet he’s christian and hates non-christians… how can you contradict yourself like that and not see it?
Also, I’m willing to bet the American Doctor was athiest. Usually when people get a bit more of an education (or are smarter to begin with) they rule out god as a possibility completely.
Yeah, God wants Dede to be closer to him by giving him a shit-ton of diseases. That’s an idiotic way of viewing it and one that doesn’t help. God doesn’t exist, let’s all just realize it and move on.
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:09 pm
Absolute genius!!! “I WISH Dede the best but i HOPE he never encounters”……….
then u go on to say…..”Praying and having faith in anything is utterly useless and won’t save or help anyone with a disease like this”!!
Wishing and hoping differ from praying and having faith????
You my friend are a moron!

Oh yeah Mr Religion Sucks,
If god does not exist, please enlighten me as to how we became. Oh, and i dont want to hear anything about “EVOLUTION” because i refuse to accept that i am related to a friggin primate, if you want to adopt that belief, maybe you really are a relative of a primate! If we “evoled” from chimps or whatever you “intelligent” people like to think, how is it so the chimps, monkeys, apes etc….still EXIST!!!! I thought evolution was the elimination of weaker species…….only the storng, no co existing here my friend. So Mr scholar, explain that to me. Or how bout explain to me why we use A.D. and B.C. in our timeline????? If your too intelligent to know or recognise these abbreviations, it means AFTER DEATH!!! AND BEFORE CHRIST!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please, i HOPE and WISH you come back to this post and read this!!!!
November 25th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
XD Wow CastroBC, I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard. From your complete lack of grammar, to your immense hypocrisy, to your rejection of science, which translates to rejecting all logic and reason and thus makes it impossible to argue with you. First and foremost, I have to point out your glaring mistake that you claim is proof of your religion being superior. I’m not Christian, and even I know that AD does not mean after death, it stands for Anno Domini, Latin for the year of our lord. And aside from the fact that these terms only apply to the Gregorian calendar, a lot of people don’t use B.C. and A.D., they use B.C.E.(before common era) and C.E.(common era). I would spend more time pointing out and laughing at your numerous flaws and outright religious discrimination, not to mention your science and logic rejecting idiocy, but I have better ways to waste my time. ^_~ Good luck with your racism and quest to convert the entire world with ignorance!

CastroBC, in your last post you said, “If god does not exist….” If you’re so adamant in your faith, why did not not capitalize God?
And if we evolved from “something” we don’t know it would be a monkey of some kind because obviously that “animal” wouldn’t exist anymore because it would exist now as “humans.” Continue to believe you’re not related to a primate or any other animal, but are we all not God’s creations? You are putting yourself a human, above other of God’s creation. Just because YOU refuse to accept relation to anything doesn’t change the truth. (In this case, it may or may not be true.)
There are a group of people who insist the world is still flat, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s not. Fact and belief are not the same thing.
You also said, “I dont see any budhists, christian, jews etc etc. attacking other countries in the name of ALLAH!!!! ” Be it God, Jehovah, Allah, etc…Don’t you watch the news? Have you ever heard of jihad? There’s violence of all kinds everywhere for religious beliefs. You can fight anyway you want for what you believe. You keep coming back to this forum, don’t you, CastroBC? To fight with words and a keyboard. I won’t be coming back here, by the way.
I do believe that God created the world and everything in it. But I don’t think we can point fingers at people who are or claim to be any religion. His peers/people around him shunned him. Not ALL Muslims feel that way about him or would want to subject him to humiliation. We can make the broad generalization and say “Some Muslims treated him badly,” but we can’t say, “All Muslims would treat him badly.”
Kitsune, nice post on the AD, BC facts. That’s what is taught to kids in schools. (I’m a teacher at a Catholic private school. I’m not Catholic, either. I am Christian.) ^_^

CastroBC Said:
“If god does not exist, please enlighten me as to how we became. Oh, and i dont want to hear anything about “EVOLUTION” because i refuse to accept that i am related to a friggin primate, if you want to adopt that belief, maybe you really are a relative of a primate!”
I hate to inform you of this trivial bit of information but, not only are you “related to a friggin primate” i.e. your parents, your grand parents and their parents, etc, etc. You are a primate! And you were classified as such by a Christian, Bible believing, Creationist named Carolus Linnaeus the father of biological classification. Linnaeus believed that he was classifying God’s creation and was not trying to express evolutionary relationships.
So, have a nice day you “friggen primate.”

Religionsucks, Shut up!
To imply that anyone who believes in God is unintelligent is nonsense!
Go back to your blood baths and satanic rituals! You Twat!

castro. if you were taught to discriminate people because of they’re race, god has taught you nothing, i’m not going to lecture you and try persuade you, because people like you think that everything that isnt you is ‘unpure’ and since your SO religious, can you please explain to me why aaalllllll the muslims in the world arent dead, because aparently according to your little holy teachings, we should all shun the muslims, so next time, think before you made a complete (and i cant stress this enough) racist cunt over the internet
fuck you and have a nice day =)
December 29th, 2008 at 10:22 am
Castro, Who created god? When was space or time created? How was a creator formed or became? I was raised catholic but have many questions. Most come from space and time continuum. Space and time have always been there and could not have been formed by god for god needs both of these to be present in order for him, her, spirit or whatever to exist./
December 29th, 2008 at 11:30 am
CastroBC, take a step back and look at the way you are addressing other people leaving comments on this thread. ISeriously read over what you’ve posted, and check out the language and tone you are using, as well has the hateful remarks and judgements. If you profess Christ, I challenge you to act like Him. You catch more bees with honey. It’s people like you, with your incredible hypocrisy and condemning attitude, who cause people to not want anything to do with Jesus. I hate to speak so harshly to you, but YOU are misrepresenting something that I profess, and that is Christ.
December 29th, 2008 at 11:38 am
I’m somewhat surprised a touching story about a man who has been afflicted with something we all are probably pretty glad to have avoided has turned into what could easily be interpreted as an angry exchange about religion.
Whether or not you believe in God or the theory of evolution or may be none of the aforementioned doesn’t change the fact that this comment blog is not about you or your beliefs on the origin and maintenance of life on earth.
As well, I think we are all intelligent enough not to judge an entire religion based upon a single person’s opinion, nor the non belief in God or conventional wisdom of the human race based on a couple of people’s comments and/or use of “colorful metaphors.”
I do believe it is acceptable to express faith-based opinions in relation to this man’s plight as faith-based comments were made by him during the TLC specials as well as his family and faith-based (or non faith-based) comments do shape who we are and what we believe. Like I said, this is about personal comments (which do include beliefs) concerning Dede and not a consensus of personal beliefs overall.
I choose to follow Jesus Christ and I quite frankly, I hope this is for the glory of God first and foremost. But I do understand my viewpoint(s) will not be the viewpoint(s) of people who choose not to have God as a part of their lives, and neither will I judge them for that choice. I expect the same respect in return.
P.S. Racism does not include religion- judgment passed on people based upon religion is prejudice.

Ok..CASTRO BC, how do YOU know DeDe is a practicing musulim?
His fellow country men shunned him, because they all live in one of the most remote parts of the earth & they don’t have the education to understand this poor mans affliction! Their treatment of him is no more unusuall in THEIR world than the shunnung of “witches” who by the way were judged to be witches because of ..oh ..warts by good “christian” men in the 1600’s in Salem Mass.
As for the country who was able to help DeDe out, USA you have outside the largest population of muslims living inside of your boarders outside of the “muslim world”. As well as a HUGE representation of ALL faiths living and working and getting along side by side.
And lastly…I am willing to bet the farm that the doctor who was able to treat DeDe is Jewish!
Enough already with all of the coments on religious views & right & wrong, I just think that it is wonderful that this deserving soul was able to recieve help from one of the kindest nations on earth.

FYI, I am a Muslim.
May Allah heal his infections. I’m deeply happy he’s doing better.

Yo Monkeyboy here.
Monkeys > Humans in the trees(jungles etc).
Human > Monkeys on the plains of Africa.
And thats all you need to know about evolution to figure out the world.
Good luck getting rid of the last bits of “wood”, Koswara-dono.

A.D is not after death…just thought you should know.. (sometimes spelled Anno Domine, abbreviated as AD or .) and Before Christ (abbreviated as BC or B.C.) are designations used to number years in the Julian and Gregorian calendars. The calendar era that they refer to is based on the traditionally reckoned year of the conception or birth of Jesus Christ, with AD denoting years after the start of this epoch, and BC denoting years before the start of this epoch. There is no year zero in this scheme, so the year AD 1 (or 1 AD) immediately follows the year 1 BC
February 7th, 2009 at 7:16 am
Wow! , all this from those checking on Dede and wanting to wish him well and check up on his progress. I just found out about him last nite and wanted to check on him currently. Couple or so thoughts. I was not convinced Dede was Muslim but I was able to see he was sure of his faith in a creator. By my experiance the only ones who try to deny that are those who 1.refuse to because they know that they will be judged as sinners (missing the mark of righteousness), they live in denile hoping that will save them. 2. Those who refuse to even look at the evidence because they think they are too stupid to draw a good conclusion compaired to all of the highly educated scientists, or they are like a teenager who knows everything. There are scientists piled high who are honestly looking where ever the findings take them and are concluding that the universe and all it contains could not have come about other than intellegent design. See the video EXPELLED for a small taste. I always find it interesting how the question “who created god” always comes up. But while all of these great “where did I come from?” are really beyond our comprehension, it does make more sence to accept that God always was and created everything than from “nearly nothing” came everything and that it became ordered. We have been able to look deeper into the universe than ever and all we find is order not kaos. We can look deep into the single cell and we’ve found it’s not simple at all, in fact those who have been examining it say it is the most complexe thing in the universe.
We look at structures built by the ancients and they were built in ways we can’t comprehind much less dulpicate. They say we evolved from stupid animals and we now use only 10% of our brain and we are still evolving. Yet it makes more sense to conclude that we started out perfect as God made us,useing 100% of our brain and we are going the way of the laws of thermal dynamics…down. Today it’s only by computers that we can calculate anthing great.
Dede suffers from a horrible afliction and there are those, even Dede who say’s that “God gave him this” can look at the amazing wonder all around him and know that someone greater than him made all this.I say that according to The Bible that God made everything perfect (leaves out trial & error of evolution) and in that perfection he let us choose and because of our selfish and rebelious choises aka sin, all of the problems of this world came about . First by the curse from origional sin and on through the ages as we continue to choose poorly, including hatered one for another and total disregard for all of creation like DDT.
BC and AD do have to do with Jesus Christ. He is the one thing in all of history that so impacted the world that all of time it’s self is gaged by him. Even back to the very begining. The closest thing we have to dating back is carbon14 and tree rings, and the oldest tree dates back to the time of Noah’s Flood. The Bible says God judged the world then and destroyed it then and that he is coming back do do it more completely. He also provided forgiveness from ALL of our sins through, you know it, Jesus Christ. But each one of us has to personally and truely accept that. If you are honest and open minded the conclusion can be found by all. As far as all of the religions out there, the only one that offers freedom from sin and forgiveness has been dubbed Christianity, and if you are seeking your own way other than Christ you are only hoping with no credible evidence that you will get to where you need to be.
I apologize for both myself and all other “Christians” who have acted judgementally and in everyway contrary to how Jesus would have us act. I ask for your forgiveness and for your pactience as we try to make better choices. It may sound like a cop out but it’s true “Christians aren’t perfect, just forgiven”. We are just sinners like everyone else, but by the grace of God we are forgiven and our sin is concealed in Christ by His sacrifice.
God Bless You and my you choose wisely.

i’m laughing.. I just wonder why most people blame muslim.. they are terrorist ?? what a shame.. if we are talking about arab, then most likely.. they genetic warrior.. i more worry about jewish.. stated everywere.. beware of jewish.. they even trying to cheat god.

Guys……………the topic here is all about desease and cure, not faith.
Be vertical on what you believe and be horisontal on where you live.
February 17th, 2009 at 7:47 am
god bless Dede
February 23rd, 2009 at 2:07 pm
First, I hope, pray and wish that Dede’s condition improves even more so than it already has, and that he is able to support himself and his family.
Second, castro… grow up. I was raised Catholic and confirmed by the Catholic church but that by no means entitles me to utterly slander another group of beliefs, be it muslim or any other you wish to look down upon. Furthermore, through my extensive studies in mathematics and biological science I have grown away from my original beliefs of man being created by one single greater entity in his own image and have found that evolution has a much more logical approach to show what we have become today. But, there is nothing; no proof whatsoever to say that any single religion or set of beliefs is incorrect, or correct for that matter.
But looking at almost all religions they propose,a set of beliefs, a way of living to be a good a decent person, and it it those who choose to turn these readings into whatever they want to believe are the basis of what is wrong today. Take the time to learn about the things that you feel so strongly about and not only will you not sound like an ignorant fool, but you might actually make a decent and valid point.
February 24th, 2009 at 1:54 am
May God bless Dede. And I just wanted to add to what people on here are saying, Just because you pray to God for something doesn’t mean he will always give it to you. God is the father, and just like any father, when a child asks for something, doesn’t mean child will always have what he/she asks/hopes for. And to the person who said that “Who cares about god faith ect.. ect.. ect.. , I am sure he is not going to help pay for costs , the main thing is that convestional medicene will do the trick, end of story…” the end of the story is not over, God has moved this man in many ways…This man doesn’t have the money to undergoing treatments, but by faith and the Grace of God, he had people come into his life and bless him for something he had no money to pay for. So on that note, God did pay for this man’s procedures. God is a loving God, and he loves everyone. We are not God we are human being that are sinners because of Adam and Eve. So we as people regardless of what we believe are sinners and we will never be perfect, but by gods mercy and by the dying and the rising of his ONLY son Jesus Christ, we are forgiven of our sins. Nobody is perfect. I have a question for people, everyone believes in something, and if its not God than what is that you believe in? and whatever you believe in is your God, so becareful in what you believe in. Society has made us so politically correct that most people ignore what is truely correct. God is not a religion, and I would like people to know that. God wants a personally relationship with us, by us and through us.
” Greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world.”
God lives within us and he touches peoples life though us. Some people don’t believe in God because they look at other peoples lifes who are believers in God, and say if thats what God is, I don’t want it. Well i’m here to serve you notice that God is God and he is God all by himself. Don’t go looking for God in other people. We can help but we can not lead because we all fall short of the Glory of God. We are not perfect, no is and no one will ever. Science is a theory, not a fact…They are not sure how we came about they are still trying to figure it out…They believe the big bang made us…If you are like one of them, I highly challenge you to read the bible from start to finish…There is so much knowlegde in the HOLY BIBLE(H.e O.nly L.eft Y.ou B.asic I.nstructions B.efore L.eaving E.arth) So before you judge that there is no God, read his story first before you pass judgement on something you don’t know. We all fall short, but because Jesus died for our sins we are able to be saved. And being saved is easy, you don’t have to kill anyone or you don’t have to make a life changing sacrafise, all you have to do is Confess with your mouth and believe it in your heart that Jesus Christ died and rose from the dead and your saved…that simple, nothing complex like use intelligent people want to make it.

Now i know that you may think this has nothing to do with Dede but God does things in mysterious ways. God is to complexed to understand and I think thats why people are afraid to believe him because they don’t understand him. People don’t understand a lot of things, but we do step out on faith everyday. We have faith that we are going to breath every moment to keep us alive or we have faith that when we eat it will fill us up…We have faith when we love someone that they will love us back…All these things are faith and faith is the things not seen, so just because you cant see oxygen doesn’t mean its not there.
Step out on faith like Dede has. He has undergone more surgeries than most will ever endure and he is still alive, Now thats faith…!
God Bless Dede and all who have changed there point of view because of him.

I have a question for people, everyone believes in something, and if its not God than what is that you believe in? and whatever you believe in is your God, so be careful in what you believe in. Society has made us so politically correct that most people ignore what is truly correct.
Anyone notice Castro’s not been back for a while?! I
I don’t have a viewpoint on any of this, just pleased Dede seems to be doing so well lately. Lets just hope he knows there are so many people out there who wish him all the very best.

Wow. All I can say is that I’m so saddened to say how religion causes such divisiveness between people. It’s so ironic that the very thing (a particular faith) which a person chooses to follow sometimes brings forth common ground, mutual understanding and love and other times (too many times) is the spark which incites arguments and even wars. Crazy.
And most interesting of all, I haven’t even heard a lot said about Dede in quite a while. Let’s all (Christians, Muslims, Jews, atheists, etc) to focus on the purpose of this site like Tina did. No need to proselytize here, folks. It seems to be a better idea to simply continue to share our support for Dede.

I respect your beliefs completly, and I can see where you guys are coming from, but just to let you know I’m a Christian and not all of us are all judgemental and think we’re better than everyone else, we’re not all like that and Christians should know better than to act like that

It’s amazing what you can find with Google. I did a quick search for Dr. Anthony Gaspari, and located his webpage at the University of Maryland Medical Center. (Dr Gaspari is seen on some of the videos circulating.) He has a frequently asked questions page about Dede Koswara, and one of the questions is “Is there anything people can do to help Dede?” Here is their answer:
Our Department of Dermatology has established a foundation. For those who are interested in donating to the ‘Fund For Dede’, please contact
Ms. Betsy Satosky
405 W. Redwood St., 6th floor
Baltimore, MD 21201
E-mail: fsatosky@som.umaryland.edu
Donations are tax deductible, and will be forwarded to Dede.
You can find Dr. Gaspari’s page here: http://www.umm.edu/doctors/anthony_a_gaspari.html

I’m a Christian as well. I’m passionate about my faith and what I believe. Everyone just needs to stop arguing about religion and take this disagreement elsewhere. The man has suffered enough without childish bickering taking the forefront. Lets just all agree to wish Dede the best. Those of us that pray do so, those of us that don’t, still wish him well with words of encouragement. Let our opinions stay where they should in our heads and stop being judgmental and prejudiced. Those of us that are Christian don’t be so quick to judge and show Christ. Those of you who aren’t don’t be so quick to judge as well and do what it is you do to help encourage the man. Lets take it away from ourselves and our opinions this is about Dede. Please!

You know after i read the story i felt very sad, and then i began to read the comments. It annoys me that people will come to a thread bitch and complain and tell everyone whats wrong with that person etc. etc. and yet look at the story. Thats what i came here to read about not about a bunch of egotistical morons who think their way is the only one.
Also for all the people who say”well how was god created” God was already there he has always been
He created everything which includes space and time
Btw if you have a problem with me
I’m 15/christian very religious/and american
i believe people need to be more openminded and get over themselves

All the comments which make this into a religion debate instead of about Dede’s journey to recovery makes me even sure that I SHOULD BELIEVE IN GOD BUT NOT RELIGIONS!!!
1. Religions caused Fanaticism which caused divisiveness which caused most wars in the world
2. Fanaticism also makes you stupid…(case and point CastroBC), if you notice all religions bottom line is collecting money….if NOT howcome so many so called religion heads (any kind religions) become very rich
Just to name these 2 reasons, I’m sure GOD do not intend HIS/HER NAME to be used by humans this way….if NOT then I dun even want to pray to ANY GODS WHO CONDONE WARS FOR ANY REASONS!!!
And for CastroBC…I bet that you never even been to Indonesia have you???…so shut the F@#CK up before you start commenting on my Country you racist bastard!!!…Indonesia unlike many believe, are not run RADICAL MUSLIM, in fact they are mostly MODERATE Muslim (btw before becoming a NON BELIEVER I am a Catholic) who accept and respect other religions (which cannot be said the same with you). And do you know how big even the country is???? it is consist of thousand of islands and some of them are remote…yes we are developing country unlike the western which mostly are developed countries…but that doesn’t make you be a SMUG!!!…. RESPECT DUDE IF YOU WANT TO BE RESPECTED!!!

CastroBC doesn’t know what AD stands for? That’s absolute stupidity..how can you say AD is for After Death?! Never heard of Anno Domini?! Where do these people glean all this ignorance?!!
September 26th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
Dudes. Get over the Cast-man. He peaced out a long time ago.
Instead of arguing about religion, why not just leave it at this: If you believe in God, pray for Dede. If not, keep him in your thoughts and hope he gets the best treatment modern science can facilitate.
What has brought us together here is not a debate about religion but the story of a remarkably strong man, so keep in mind that each person visiting this page is part of his support system and make it about love. Make it about something more than attacking those around you. We’re all together for the same reason no matter how our beliefs influence our interpretation of his situation.

Your religious discussion is boring and doesn’t belong here.
Move out.

WE need to get more open-minded?
The thing that I just want to know from religious nut jobs - any one will do - is this: what is it about science and scientific ideas that scares you so much? You know all those little conveniences in life that you no doubt take for granted? Things like electricity, medicine, hospitals, cellphones, running water, aeroplanes, tvs, Xboxs, computers, phones, cars, roads, flushing toilets, clothes, schools, buildings, particle accelerators, satellites… you know, little things like those? Created by men of unbelievable insight and intelligence - men of science and reason. Not by god, or Jebus Christ, or Buddha, or Mohammed…. by men of learning.
And these same men have effectively proved, with centuries of scientific proof, that we share a common ancestor with every other living thing on earth, and that there is really no such thing as god. Just accept it. People with YOUR mindset several hundred years ago argued that the Sun went round the Earth…. people who were as sure of themselves as you are about your silly little gods. Get with the times.

I Am So Sorry For Him. I Hope The Best for Him

Good for him. He’s suffered more than any of us could imagine.

All’s I’ve got to say is that I hope there ARE other natural or other home remedies out there to supplement that Vitamin A treatment. It seems that if Dede has come this far, it’s very possible to get those last bits of warts gone–and return FULL usage of his fingers. I haven’t heard the Clorox treatment, but if there’s any scientific data out there (and they are the same KIND of warts in this situation) to support, it seems to be worth a spot test! (maybe on his leg, not the delicate & just-healed hands)
I read in another blog about Dede that someone suggested adding lots of raisins to his diet. I haven’t heard this one, either, but I don’t see how it could hurt (especially in strengthening his immune system).
To Janice & WhoaNelly, I think you are both right. Yeah, it kinda went too far off-focus, but conversations do tend to do that. I just think the extreme parts are a bit much.
CastroBC, the irony may be hard to ignore, but we don’t need your extra help to see that. My Bible states that there’s a time & place for everything– this is indeed neither the time nor the place for your prejudice. This story is about a human who is suffering; have some compassion! When you started generalizing and NAME-CALLING, you began to misrepresent MY faith. Please stop slandering my Lord & Savior. Thanks!
October 22nd, 2009 at 2:22 pm
Oh, and Momo, you’ve said it best of all. I just scrolled down & didn’t realize CastBC had stopped commenting (hence my last post), but i was also trying to make the point that the hateful details are very unnecessary in this conversation.
Well, regardless of religious creed, we all know one thing: Love conquers all.
Thank you for your common-sense contribution, ‘cuz not many have the calm heart to say it.

I hope that a complete cure would be discovered for Dede.I will always inspire the Doctors involve treating him.
On the other hand we also discovered an african male suffering of the same disease and we are treating him with meds developed by us and being on our treatment for the last three weeks he is progressing very well as the warts are starting to disappear and we belive that we are on the right track of the development of our meds and he will be cured. We have so far made successfull progress in the treatment and have photografic proof as he is progressing.
Good luck for the future Dede

My heart goes out for Dede to be cured.I really feel it with him and pray that he should become normal and live a normail life.
However, we also discovered an african male in Africa infected with the same disease ( cutaneous horns ) tree like warts disease. We therefore have developed a med and have been treating him now for three weeks. We are really inspired by the succcess of the development and improvement ,and this is pointing to a adequate treatment . The warts have started to dry up and fall off bit by bit ,as well the huge growth around his neck have become smaller and some of the growths have disappeared already.Prior to the treatment he could not sleep, but is able to sleep now. He always had a bad smell, pains, itching and his body use to feel heavy. He feels lighter now , able to sleep,no longer itching and no longer have any more pains. We are working very hard to improve our Invention. We have discovered thats our meds are effective for his condition.
