An impressive two minute short CG film by students of Paris’s Gobelins School of Image about two lovelorn octopi which was separated and went to great lengths to be reunited.

Oktapodi won several notable awards that include Best Animation Imagina 2008, ‘Best Student Animated Film Ficci Baf 2008′, Canal Award Annecy 2008 and many others. Check out the official website for more information.

Western Spaghetti is a cool stop motion short from PES that uses different types of objects to represent the ingredients. Brilliant and original animation that’s so full of creative ideas and it is already proving to be a hit on the internet with almost 1 million views on Youtube.

Brutal clay animation that start out slow but quickly turns into a blood bath as the faithful maid tries to fend off zombies and took a last resort of wielding a chainsaw. Entertaining piece of work as clay never looked so violent until this came along.

This is the Coca Cola Happiness Factory – The Movie commercial that show the adventures of a factory worker as he embarks on a quest to replenish the Coke behind the world of a Coke vending machine. A higher definition can be viewed at the Coke site.

This commercial was created by advertising agency at Wieden and Kennedy, Amsterdam which utilized over fifty 3D animators.

Big Buck Bunny is a cool entertaining short animated film made using open source software by the Blender Institute. It shows how free software can create animation work that is comparable or even better than some high-level commercial product.

This film was officially released April 10th in Amsterdam. Big Buck Bunny was awarded a special mention from the jury of Cyborg Film Festival within the section animation. It opens an important reflection on the value of the open source and of the free software in the professional and commercial world.

An animated illustration of the Phoenix Lander arriving on Mars on May 25th. The Phoenix Lander is programmed to set down near the North Pole of Mars and over the next three months, sample alien soil and ice and look for conditions conducive for ancient microbial life.

This animation shows the arrival, deployment of parachute, jettison its heat shield, thruster fire, landing, unfurling its solar panel, deploying its instruments, scooping and analysis by the Phoenix Lander.

Here are two fantastic Ford FA commercials that features the same animated furry monster in different scenario settings. Great fluid animation with a weird twist that exaggeratively show how spacious the Ford KA is. It gets even better in the sequel with the baby furry monster getting really nasty on the people. One of the best automobile commercials in my opinion.

This is a demo of Euphoria’s realistic character animation system which is used for the animation tech in Grand Theft Auto 4. It doesn’t require an animator to generate all possible movements and uses a combination of artificial intelligence, physics and biomechanics. This is truly the future development of character animation.

Jack-Jack attack is an animation short by Pixar about the youngest member of The Incredibles family, Jack-Jack. Baby sitter Kari McKean starts to have difficulty babysitting him shortly and finds that he is definitely one abnormal baby. From setting fire to walking upside down on the ceiling, this baby is one hell of a mess for Kari.

Cool animated commercial for Taito game Exit which is a stylish and addictive puzzle game that stars Mr. ESC the escape artist who goes wherever he’s needed to get people out of the worst predicaments.

Cute short 3D animation by Pixar titled ‘For The Birds’ about a flock of birds that tried to shun a large goofy bird that tried to join in the group. Pretty annoyed by the big bird, they tried all means to remove him but got a surprise reward instead.

Theme Planet is a gorgeous 3D animation that tells the story of a bunny who escaped from the clutches of a mad scientist who tried to enslave it. Created by Michael Sormann who is currently working as an art director at the Austrian computer games company Neo Software, Theme Planet is one of his most ambitious project undertaken.

Entertaining French animation that tells the story of Marcel, a big ogre who gets a job as a game character. When he finds that he wasn’t suitable with his job, he tried getting other jobs at the casting game center. Narration is in French but with English subtitles.

CGI animation of evolution in action. This is taken from a number of clips in Discovery Channel and is a compilation of the different branches of the evolutionary tree. The background song is ‘Just As You Imagined’ by Nine Inch Nails.

Usavich is a lovely series of animation that you would instantly love once you watch it. This was created for MTV Japan by Kanaban Graphics and tells the story of Kirenenko and Putin, the two rabbits who are held captive in a Russian gulag. There are currently 23 volumes in total which was an instant hit when it was broadcasted on television.

Quirky 3D animation short from aniBoom about a wife who tries to seduce her seemingly ‘uninterested in her’ husband. When all fails, she resort to the very last solution and the ending is both surprising and unexpected.
