The urban river was created by Henk Hofstra in Drachten, The Netherlands and shows how mind blowing public art can be. The blue road installation features about 1000 metres of road painted blue and the phrase ‘Water is Life’ written in an eight metre high letters across it. Nathan Sawaya, a 33 year old New York based artist builds a living out of Lego. He left his career as a lawyer and became a Lego artist. Sawaya’s art is currently touring North American museums in a show titled ‘The Art of the Brick’. It’s the only exhibition that focus exclusively on Lego as an art medium. According to journalist Scott Jones, “Sawaya is a surrealist mash-up of forms and artists. Imagine Frank Lloyd Wright crossed with Ray Harryhausen, or Auguste Rodan crossed with Shigeru Miyamoto, and you start to get a sense of where Sawaya is coming from.”

Sawaya has also made a number of media appearance including CBS’s The Late Show with David Letterman, NBC’s Today Show, ESPN’s Cold Pizza, Hollywood Reporter, Comedy Centrals’ The Colbert Report and Variety.

Eric Joisel created this Lord of the Rings group origami using a single uncut square piece of paper for each one. The three Lord of the Rings origami featured are Gimli the Dwarf, Legolas the Elf and Aragon the Human King.
