Korea has developed its own android - the second time in the world that an android has been developed (The first android was developed by Japan). The female android as shown in the picture is called EveR-1, stands 1.6 meters and weighs around 50 kilograms. This android can understand 400 words and make eye contacts while talking via her lips that are synchronized with the pronunciation of words.

There are fifteen tiny motors embedded in her silicon face enabling her to make a total of four expressions - joy, anger, sorrow and happiness. Currently the robot cannot move since her lower half is immobile but the Korean developers are working on upgrading the android to move its legs by the end of this year.

LG Korea unveiled two new DMB phones with 170 degree viewing angle on a 2.2 inch QVGA LCD. LG has used its proprietary “IPS” method for the first time on mobile phones which was traditionally used only on Digital TV’s. This technology allows you to have a clear view of the display.

Korea has developed its own version of Aibo called Gunibo and is commercially available in the country. The smart robot dog understands human speech which is the first commercial robot that has such ability. The speech recognition feature allows the robot to understand some 100 words such as ‘come here’, ’sit’ and so on.
