Google Logo Drawn By Kids

Google has asked students in the United States in grades K-12 to design a logo aroud the theme ‘What if …?”. The Doodle 4 Google competition was open to all students in U.S. schools from kindergarten to grade 12. The winner was voted by the US public and an award ceremony for the 40 regional winners was held at the Googleplex in Mountain View.

The winning logo was done by Grace Moon (the girl featured in one of the photo) of California called ‘Up in the Clouds’ and her logo was used for Google’s logo art for a day. These are the finalists in Grades 10-12. Apparently some of these kids create better imaginative art than most of us adults can do.

Most Craziest Captchas On The Web

Captcha is an acronym for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers And Humans Apart and are used to prevent automated software from spamming the website. A captcha has an algorithm to show different new challenges which requires real human intelligence to solve.

However some captchas goes beyond the normal point and to some extent proves to be too difficult to solve and some are just downright hilarious. Left shows one of Google’s captcha that would be too hard for some people’s pride to swallow. Google Advertising In Video First Look

Firefox Takes 10% of Internet Browser Market Share

Firefox has overtaken 10% of the internet browser market share last month. In February it was 9.75% and in March, Firefox usage climbed to 10.05%. The 3rd most popular is Apple Computer’s Safari with 3.19%. Fourth goes to Netscape with 1.05%, followed by Opera with 0.54% and Mozilla 0.34%. Microsoft’s monopoly of the internet browsers will slowly decrease if Firefox continues its growth.

Google tops online search with 48% of market share

Market research firm, Nielsan Netratings (which is the global standard for Internet audience measurement and analysis) said that Google remains the most popular seach engine with Internet users in the U.S.

Market Share

The shares are as follows

Google 48.2%
Yahoo 22.2%
MSN 11.0%

Market shares are with google increasing 1.1%, Yahoo 0.9% while MSN Search had a slight decline of 1.8%.

Search Processing

Each search engine process significantly more searches than in January of 2005.

Google 1.9 billion to 2.7 billion – 42% increase
Yahoo 866 million to 1.3 billion – 46% increase
MSN 523 million to 626 million – 20% increase
