Dede Koswara dubbed the Tree Man is back after nine months of operations to remove the woody growth from his body. He was once sacked from his job, deserted by his wife and shunned by his neighbors – treated like a freak becaused of his gnarled growths sprouting from his hands and feet. The warts on Dede’s body was the cause of a severe Human Papilloma Virus infection.

The 37 year old man’s life quality has improved where he now can use his hand write and use the cell phone. Dede still has to go through more surgery in October after the fasting month to trim more warts and was given strong course of medicine including vitamin A in an attempt to prevent the return of the growth.

Update: This could be a fake

Rober Hawkins opened fire in a busy Omaha department store killing 9 people and wounded several others before killing himself. An SKS assault rifle was used by the gunman who left a suicide note “Now I’ll be famous”. Not much is known about Robert A. Hawkins motive other than suffering a set of setbacks in the past year.

He recently broke up with a girlfriend, got fired and failed to get into the Army as well. Coming from a troubled family he had also been treated for depression and attention deficit disorder. Hit the link to read the whole story at CBS News.

Miss China Zhang Zilin took the crown of the Miss World Pageant 2007 which took place in Sanya, China. Miss Micaela from Angola came in second while Miss Carolina from Mexico took third place. Zhang Zilin is honored the title of best model during the 57th Miss World Competition attended by contestants from 106 countries and region.

The mountain gorillas that live across the borders of Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa are extremely endangered with fewer than 720 in existence. This year wild life officials report at least 10 of them have been killed in Congo. No one knows why they are being killed though jealousy of success by Uganda and Rwanda to capitalise on gorilla tourism is said to be the role behind it.

The California fires has been linked to a boy who started the fire by playing matches on October 21. Raging for almost a week these are the worst fires that California has faced in 10 years time and had killed at least 13 people. More than 300,000 acres have been destroyed and at least 800 homes reduced to ashes.

Latest breaking news from CNN says ‘Rice Bag Fallen Over’ in China. Situation unclear. Hopefully that bag of rice turns out all right.

A giant lego man was discovered at sea in the Dutch resort of Zandvoort. The model was 2.5m tall spotting words ‘No Real Than You Are’ on his chest. If only there were more other giant lego pieces that comes with him, that would have been even cooler. An Ohio man is using cardboard cutouts of his children to slow down motorists. The idea is not new where cardboard cutouts of policeman has been used before. Frustrated by motorists unwillingness to slow down, he puts up these life size cutouts in his yard.

His idea has been posted on some law enforcement web sites around the country and he is selling the signs for $60 now. NBC4 has a slide show about this whole story.

An exclusive video of the remaining 22 South Korean Christian hostages from Al-Jazeera, few day after a male body of one captive who was found riddled with bullets. A second hostage has also been killed according to unconfirmed news.

They are currently held by Taliban militants who initially wanted Taliban prisoners released as well as a pullout of South Korean troops in Afghanistan in exchange for the hostage’s life. Anxious family members of the Korean hostages gathered at the offices of non-governmental agency in Seoul to follow developments on television. Peng Shulin met with an accident and his body was cut into two in 1995. It took a team of more than 20 doctors to save his life. Bedridden for years, doctors had little hope for him to live normally again but recently, the China Rehabilitation Research Centre in Beijing found out about his plight and devised a plan to get him walking up again.

They created a casing for his lower part of the body shaped in an egg and used two bionic legs for walking. Mr Peng is learning how to walk with his new lower part and he is delighted with the device. 2 more pics after the jump.
