Hi Hemmy readers,

Currently I’m transferring www.hemmy.net to a semi-dedicated server at Hostgator so there won’t be any updates for these few days. This is to cater the increasing traffic since my account on my old host has been suspended many times for consuming too much cpu resources. Well till then, thanks for visiting this site and if you have any suggestions for improvements just drop them in the comments.

Update: This is on the new server. Some comments have been lost during the transfer so I’m leaving that as it is. Updates will resume soon.

Happy New Year to all Hemmy.net’s readers. Another year has passed and its always a new beginning with new resolutions. Updates has been slow lately due to much difficulty in juggling time between work, blogs, friends and other activities. Hopefully this year, I will be able to sort better time management allocation. Also thanks to those who still regularly read Hemmy.net after the long absence of updates and lastly, I hope everyone enjoyed their new year celebration!!

Sorry guys but there probably won’t be any updates these few days. Home internet is down because telephone line is not working. This site was also suspended for high cpu usage, so I still need to optimize the php scripts and still working on a viable solution. Will be posting updates once the problems are solved.

Latest Update: I’m upgrading to the high cpu plan on my webhost www.bluehost.com. Will be updating as usual until the upgrade takes place in the near future. The upgrade would probably take around 24 hrs for the domain name to propogate through the DNS.

Sorry guys for the lack of updates recently, had been preparing for my year end trip and things are going pretty hectic.

I will be away from the 1st to the 10th November. Anyway Happy Halloween and Holidays to all the readers too. Do come back to check for new updates when I come back.

A day ago, Hemmy.net posted an article about ‘Creative Advertisements Around The World‘. Seemingly enough clones seemed to spring up just few hours later where two examples would be eglobe1 and 2loop. Both copied the exact pictures and wordings.

While the article got to the front page of digg and reddit, the cheapass webmaster also known as onion82 at www.eglobe1.com posted to the big sites at www.fark.com and www.i-am-bored.com. Well, anger was the first emotion to be released but calmly later, it was realised that something had to be done bout this in a rational manner. This is the email which I had with Drew Curtis at www.fark.com.

But this is the way to tackle those using cheap tactics. The next time I’m going to write a long article, I will definitely watermark the pictures first. Watermarking doesn’t always mean taking pictures and make it your own but it is also to prevent theft like this. This is a valuable lesson to be learnt definitely.
