Life In The Rubbish Dump Of Stung Meachey

Cambodia Trash Living 01

Stung Meanchey Municipal Waste Dump is a 100 acre garbage dump in Phnom Penh. Every day, several hundred scavenge through Phnom Penh daily refuse in this dump to collect rubbish to contribute to the family income. The rubbish are sold to recycling business which could earn an adult an average of 4000 to 5000 riels (US$1.00 to US$1.25) a day. “This is the closest thing to hell on earth I’ve ever seen,” said David Pred, an aid worker who is trying to assist orphans at the dump site. “I don’t understand how people can allow a place like this to exist.”

These people are actually considered the lucky ones as they could earn more money than they could in the rural village where they originally came from as well as a roof over the top of their heads.

Victoria Falls Swim

The Victoria Falls is a waterfall situated in Southern Africa between the countries of Zambia and Zimbabwe. During the low seasons, the natural pools on the Zambia side are accessible for swimming and this is footage of people taking a deep in the devil’s pool.
